Straighten the road
In the first verse we will see, Solomon calls on the young man to straighten their path:
Hear thou, my son, and be wise, and guide thine heart in the way.
Proverbs 23:19
It is very clear that when the young person deviates from the good path toward things that only lead to perdition. Their life will be very different because they changed their attitude, in a way that nothing will be the same, they will treat their parents in other way and this because their heart was diverted from the right path.

Proverbs 23:20
In this sense Solomon is emphasizing that, those people who take drinks uncontrolled to do bad things, and always lead their messy life, they are people who do not care about living a life in total disorder. Solomon says this because he has always seen people who practice such things, from ancient times until now.
For the drunkard and the glutton shall come to poverty: and drowsiness shall clothe a man with rags.
Proverbs 23:21
These drinkers and gluttons, all they get is to spend it on their delights, then they have nothing for their livelihood.
The book of Proverbs frequently warns about the influence of bad company. Young people, due to their vulnerability and desire for acceptance, can easily fall into circles that lead them away from their purpose. Not everyone who smiles is a friend, and not everyone who invites you to enjoy life has good intentions. Solomon highlights that those who live without restraint eventually suffer the consequences of their own choices. Poverty, shame, and destruction follow those who do not exercise self-control.

Listen to your parents
Do not forget to listen to your mother even if she grows old, so she helps you in your day to day, because every mother wants to see her children on the right path.
Hearken unto thy father that begat thee, and despise not thy mother when she is old.
Proverbs 23:22
The son who listens to his father is blessed by God for being obedient, also this young man who listens to his mother is a wise son. God likes young people to be obedient, and this is what wise Solomon advises all young people.
Listening to parents is not simply an act of respect, but a recognition that their words carry years of experience, love and sacrifice. A young person who values the advice of his father and mother builds a safer and more stable life. Even when parents age, their wisdom does not lose value; in fact, it often becomes even more precious. God established the family as the primary place of instruction, and those who honor that design enjoy blessings, protection, and direction.
