Every one shall give account to God

The Bible tells us of a day when we will all appear before “the great tribunal of the white throne of Christ.” A day where every knee will bend and confess that Christ is the Lord. In that day there will be no great or small before God, since nothing and no one can compare with the radiance of His light and His holiness.

The Unveiling of Divine Majesty

That day will reveal the true majesty of Christ, a majesty that today many ignore or diminish. The glory of God will be so great that every human argument, every doubt, and every rebellion will disappear instantly in the presence of the Almighty. Those who mocked, denied, or rejected His name will find out that the words of Scripture were truth from beginning to end. And those who believed, who walked by faith, who trusted in His grace, will finally see with their eyes the One whom they adored without ever having seen.

Many people today say that none of this is real, that there is no God, that we only exist and there is no more, but the truth is that one day we will all be face to face with God. For some it will be a fearsome day, because they spent their lives fleeing from Him; for others, it will be a day of indescribable joy, because they will finally behold the Savior they trusted. The anticipation of this encounter serves as a spiritual compass, guiding believers to live with a constant awareness of eternity. Living with the end in mind transforms how we interact with the world around us, shifting our focus from temporary gains to lasting, spiritual treasures that echo into the afterlife.

The Certainty of the Divine Appointment

There is an undeniable weight to the promise of standing before the Creator. Throughout history, philosophers and theologians alike have contemplated the nature of existence, yet the Scriptures provide the most profound answer: we are not accidents of nature, but rather, we are created beings with a divine appointment. The concept of the great tribunal represents the ultimate point of accountability. It suggests that morality is not merely a social construct, but a reflection of the character of a Holy God. By acknowledging this, one begins to see the necessity of alignment with divine will.

The Bible says:

11 For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God.

12 So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.

13 Let us not therefore judge one another any more: but judge this rather, that no man put a stumblingblock or an occasion to fall in his brother’s way.

Romans 14:11-13

The Comprehensive Nature of Divine Justice

All of us will give an account of ourselves one day before the sovereign God. There will be no excuses there, no hidden motives, no way to justify what was done in secret. God knows the intentions of the heart and the deepest thoughts, and before Him every life will be examined with perfect justice. For humanity, it will be a fearsome day because nothing will be hidden; yet at the same time, it will be wonderful because God will judge with righteousness, wisdom, and holiness.

The Integrity of the Heart

When we consider that God peers into the very fabric of our souls, it forces us to evaluate our internal motivations. Are our actions driven by a genuine love for the truth, or are we motivated by the desire for public approval? This internal audit is essential for spiritual maturity. Honesty before God is the precursor to a life that truly honors Him. Without this transparency, our spiritual practices become empty rituals. The challenge, therefore, is to cultivate a heart that is not only clean on the outside but pure in the inner chambers where only God can see.

Justice Rooted in Eternal Love

While the prospect of judgment can seem daunting, we must remember that God’s justice is not disconnected from His nature of love. He desires that all men come to repentance. Consequently, the judgment is a manifestation of His desire to establish order and peace. By holding humanity accountable, He validates the suffering of the righteous and the sacrifices made for the sake of the Gospel. Divine intervention through Christ provides the bridge—the only way to stand before the throne with confidence rather than paralyzing fear.

Cultivating Reverence in Daily Life

This reality should lead us to live with reverence. The apostle Paul reminds us that, because each one of us will give an account, we must be careful not to become a stumbling block for others. Instead of judging our brothers harshly, we should help them, encourage them, and walk in love. Knowing that we will stand before God should produce humility and a sincere desire to honor Him in everything we do. It is in the mundane moments—the quiet decisions of our daily lives—where we truly demonstrate our reverent fear of God. Every interaction with a neighbor, every professional decision, and every private thought becomes a testament to our ongoing relationship with Him.

Avoiding the Stumbling Block

The mandate to avoid being a stumbling block is a call to radical responsibility. Our actions, however small, carry the potential to influence the spiritual trajectory of those around us. This requires a level of intentional kindness and careful speech that often defies modern cultural trends. When we prioritize the spiritual health of others, we reflect the heart of Christ, who consistently looked after the needs of the weak and the marginalized.

The Power of Mutual Edification

Encouragement is not just a nice gesture; it is a vital component of the community of faith. By lifting others up, we collectively move toward a higher standard of living. This shared journey makes the burden of faith lighter. It creates a supportive environment where forgiveness is practiced, and grace is the standard language of communication. Building up one another is the most practical way to prepare for the day of accountability, as it demonstrates that we have understood the core message of the Gospel.

The Mission of Grace and Redemption

We give glory to God because we have been reached, but at the same time we pray for those who do not yet know God, who refuse to believe in Him. We ask that the merciful God pick them up, open their understanding, and allow them to recognize that Christ is the Lord. Only His grace can transform a hardened heart, and only His Spirit can lead a person to repentance and faith. This mission requires persistent prayer and active engagement with the world. We are not called to retreat into isolation, but to be a light in the darkness, demonstrating the transformative power of a life surrendered to the Almighty.

The Transformation of the Human Heart

No amount of human logic or persuasive speaking can replace the work of the Holy Spirit. Recognizing this humility is essential for any evangelistic effort. We are vessels, and the power resides in the message of the Cross. When we witness the change in someone who has been reached by the grace of God, it reinforces our own faith. Divine transformation is the strongest proof of the reality of God, and it remains the most beautiful evidence of His continued work on earth.

A Future Defined by Joy

May our lives reflect the hope we have in that great day. And may the Lord draw many more to Himself, so that when every knee bows and every tongue confesses, they may do so with joy and not fear. Our earthly existence is merely a prologue to an eternal story where God’s glory will be the central theme. By keeping our eyes fixed on this future, we find the strength to endure present trials and the motivation to live with unwavering purpose. The ultimate goal is to reach that day knowing we lived in a way that glorified Him, trusting fully in the Savior who redeemed us.

In conclusion, the prospect of the great tribunal should not be viewed as a threat to be avoided, but as a promise to be anticipated. It is the final restoration of all things. The beauty of this truth lies in the fact that our God is a God of redemption. He invites us to participate in His work, to share in His love, and to walk in the light of His truth. As we navigate the complexities of life, may we do so with a heart prepared, a spirit yielded, and a faith that is anchored in the absolute certainty of His return. The future belongs to those who trust in the Lord, and that future is filled with a brilliance that far exceeds anything we can comprehend today. Let us live worthy of that calling, ensuring our actions align with the magnitude of the truth we confess.

The urgency of this message cannot be overstated. With each passing day, the invitation to grace remains open, and the opportunity to turn one’s heart toward the Creator is a gift that should be embraced with profound gratitude. Walking by faith means recognizing that every moment is an opportunity to honor the One who holds the keys to the future. It is a commitment to excellence, a dedication to truth, and an unwavering belief in the sovereign plan of God. When we embrace this reality, we find a peace that transcends circumstances, allowing us to face the world with courage and unwavering hope, confident that our labor in the Lord is never in vain.

Every challenge we face today is an opportunity to exercise trust in His provision. The struggle against sin, the difficulty of maintaining integrity in a world that compromises, and the effort to love those who are hard to love—all these are part of the process of refinement. Refinement through faith is what prepares us for that ultimate day of accountability. It is not about our own perfection, but about our continuous reliance on the perfection of Christ. He is our advocate, our mediator, and our Savior. Through Him, the prospect of the white throne becomes a beacon of hope, leading us to a destination of eternal communion with the source of all life and love. This, ultimately, is the greatest promise we hold, a promise that sustains us, motivates us, and defines our very existence in this world.

  1. Every one shall give account to God
    ========================
In a world where most people deny the existence of God, where nobody wants to speak about a judgment of God in any way, the reality is manifested by God’s Word:
“For it is written, As I live, saith the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God. So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.”
    Romans 14:11-12

We—that is, those who believe in a God and Lord of all, and who accept what the Holy Scripture teaches the world—yes, we wait in some way for that day of judgement, because then it will be confirmed that the Lord God reigns and Jesus Christ is the Lord, for the Father’s glory.

All children of God will celebrate that the enemies of God will be humiliated, and everyone shall be judged and will have to recognize their sins before the Lord Jesus Christ, and we too, since “every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess to God,” said the Lord.

We must give thanks to God because we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous, and He has justified us before the Father; he has covered our iniquities. We have been covered with justice and holiness by the sacrifice of our Lord on the Cross.

“My little children, these things write I to you, that you sin not. And if any man sin, we have an advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous.”
    1 John 2:1

May the name of Jesus Christ be praised for evermore.
