In the 1500s, in those times of the Protestant reform, the flag of the reform was raised high with five great principles that today belong to our doctrine and identify us as christians, one of those solas that was proclaimed says: Soli Deo Gloria. These are some words in Latin, which means: to the glory of God alone.
Many of the services that are performed in the temples of today have more to do with the glory of man than with the glory of God, we see it in the programs, in the presentations of preachers, we see it everywhere in the church, and this has been a way to tarnish that great truth that glory belongs only to God. Man has always wanted to go after his own glory, and this is a big mistake, since God Himself says that He does not share His glory with anyone.
The Bible say:
For of him, and through him, and to him, are all things: to whom be glory for ever. Amen.
Romans 11:36
Everything that exists, everything created, everything beautiful, everything that shines is for God. All our talents, all our gifts, our ministry, everything is for God!
Soli Deo gloria or to the glory of god alone had great significance for the reformers and this meant: “Everything that is done is for the glory of God to the exclusion of self-glorification and the pride of mankind. The christians should be motivated and inspired by the glory of God and not theirs.”
It is not about ourselves, to be proud of ourselves, to glorify ourselves or that we are openly known by all men, it is about what we do is for the glory of God. Much of today’s theology teaches us how important man is, what man deserves, etc. But the message is not that, the message is not what we deserve or how important we are, the message is that all the glory is for God and that everything created is for His own glory.
