The only thing that can take away the veil

Ignorance is a veil, it is a mantle over each head of each person who has decided to remain submerged in it and not swim in deeper waters. God was pleased that those things that the ancients could not know are revealed to us through the Gospel of our beloved Lord Jesus Christ. This veil is not merely the absence of information; it is a spiritual darkness that prevents us from seeing the beauty of the truth that God has already placed within our reach. Ignorance keeps the mind chained, unable to discern, unable to grow, unable to contemplate the glory of God revealed in Scripture.

The Bible is God’s revelation to us, we all have free access to it, and we can ask that His Spirit allows us to understand it. But sometimes we prefer to continue with the veil, and we only become those kind of people who blindly believe in what other people say, without examining through the Scriptures if what they say is true. Many people today have multiple Bibles in their houses, cell phones and tablets where they can read the Word of God, but still they choose not to go deeper. They stay on the surface, content with knowing what others say, instead of confirming the truth for themselves through prayer and study.

There was a time that the church lived in darkness, with a veil, because they couldn’t even read the Bible in their language, but God raised men who swam in deeper waters so that this truth could reach everyone. Those reformers risked their lives so that the Scriptures could be placed into the hands of ordinary people. Those were times of sacrifice, persecution, and even martyrdom. Yet, their efforts were not in vain, because through them the veil of ignorance began to fall, and the light of Scripture shone again for the people.

Today we have many deceivers in the pulpits, because the same Bible tells us that this was going to happen for this time, so that this whole drama should not come as a surprise to us. False teachers, motivated by fame, pride, or greed, distort the Gospel and manipulate the Scriptures. They take advantage of those who do not examine what they hear. And if a believer does not read, does not study, does not pray, then he becomes an easy prey to deception. This is why the veil of ignorance continues in many, not because God has not revealed His truth, but because many refuse to seek it.

However, we must break with that lazy thought of not wanting to scrutinize the Bible. The Christian life is not passive; it requires discipline, dedication, and a desire to grow. Ignorance is comfortable, but dangerous. Knowing the Word takes effort, but it brings freedom. Jesus said:

Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.

John 5:39

Jesus invites us not to be passive listeners, but active seekers. The Scriptures are not a mystery sealed in heaven; they testify of Christ, they point us to salvation, they open our understanding, and reveal the will of God. When we open the Bible, we are not merely reading a book—we are encountering the living voice of God speaking to the heart.

The only thing that can make us free from the veil of ignorance is that we search the Bible, praying to God to allow us to understand it. Study alone is not enough; we need the illumination of the Holy Spirit. But the Spirit is pleased to illuminate those who humbly come to the Word with a sincere heart. If we ask, He teaches us; if we seek, He reveals; if we knock, He opens. And once the veil falls, we begin to see everything differently: God, ourselves, the world, sin, and Christ.

Beloved, do not settle for spiritual blindness. Swim in deeper waters. Open the Scriptures daily. Pray for understanding. And allow the truth of God to renew your mind and transform your life.
