The value of wisdom

Being wise is one of the most important parts we should have in our lives, because when we are wise we understand all things, we are more mature in terms of situations we go through.

It is as the same book of proverbs says, that the wise man sees evil and departs, but the fool sees it and stays still, then evil comes and destroys him, that is why wisdom is important in each of our lives

How much better to get wisdom than gold,
to get insight rather than silver!

Proverbs 16:16

These two parts are very important. Wisdom is very essential in our lives because it is more important than gold, and why does it mention gold? It is to make us understand that wisdom is more important than any earthly thing you put before it. Do not forget that without that wisdom that comes from God we can do nothing.

Many people have intelligence under their feet, they think that they can do everything by themselves, but let’s not forget that God gives us intelligence and makes us understand all the things we do not know.

In the Lord we can find that wisdom that we do not have, because only He can help us, sometimes we forget that everything, absolutely everything that is around us was created by Him, and therefore, only He can give us wisdom.

The highway of the upright avoids evil;
those who guard their ways preserve their lives.

Proverbs 16:17

It is as we said before, people who do not have wisdom from above can fall into any kind of error or fall into certain situations where seeing evil they do not go away, then evil comes to them.

It is good to keep in mind, that we must ask God for wisdom at all times, because only He can give it.

When we speak of wisdom, we are not referring only to intellectual ability or the capacity to memorize information. The wisdom that the Bible exalts is a spiritual understanding that allows us to discern between good and evil, to choose the right path, and to walk according to the fear of the Lord. This kind of wisdom transforms our decisions, our character, and even the way we respond to adversity. A wise person does not simply react; a wise person evaluates, prays, and seeks direction from above.

Throughout Scripture, God repeatedly invites His children to pursue wisdom earnestly. This shows us that wisdom is not something automatic, nor is it inherited. It is sought, desired, and requested from God with humility. James teaches us that if anyone lacks wisdom, he should ask God, who gives generously without reproach. This means that divine wisdom is accessible to all believers who approach the Lord sincerely and with a willing heart.

Another important aspect is that wisdom preserves life. The book of Proverbs constantly shows how the wise avoid traps, temptations, dangers, and destruction. Wisdom is like a shield that keeps us standing when others fall. It gives us clarity when the world tries to confuse us, and it gives us peace when circumstances seem overwhelming. Without wisdom, our decisions are driven by impulses; with wisdom, they are guided by purpose.

We must also understand that wisdom is closely linked to obedience. A person who hears the Word but does not put it into practice cannot be called wise. Jesus Himself compared the wise man to the one who builds his house upon the rock. Storms come, winds blow, and floods rise, but the house remains firm because it was founded on obedience. This shows that wisdom is not only knowledge but action. It is living according to God’s principles every day.

In addition, wisdom helps us avoid unnecessary suffering. Many of the difficulties people face could be avoided if they acted with spiritual discernment. When we ignore God’s counsel, we expose ourselves to consequences that could have been prevented. But when we embrace His wisdom, we walk in paths of righteousness, peace, and safety.

Finally, let us remember that wisdom is a treasure that grows with time. The more we seek God, the more He reveals. The more we meditate on His Word, the more understanding we receive. Wisdom makes us better parents, better workers, better friends, and better servants of God. It shapes our hearts to reflect Christ and teaches us to live in a way that honors Him.

Therefore, ask God daily for wisdom. Value it more than gold, pursue it more than any earthly achievement, and guard it diligently in your heart. Whoever walks in wisdom walks securely, and whoever trusts in the Lord will never be put to shame.

I trust in God, I will not fear
Rich in mercy

  1. The value of wisdom
    =================
    The Bible tells us that the beginning of wisdom is the knowledge of God.
    The first thing we ought to do is to look for the knowledge of our Sovereign God. In Him we have all things we need. Nothing can help us to live in this world but to know the creator of our body and soul, the being who fills all in all.
    We exist because he formed us in our mothers’ womb; he gives us everything we need through our work, even the air we breathe.

    And something which is more important, he has looked after our soul and has prepared a plan of salvation for us, who have rebelled against him. He loves us and the Lord Jesus Christ is our refuge and fortress; through Him we have access to the heavenly Father.

    So, we must take wisdom into account and look for it before anything else in this world.
    “How much better to get wisdom than gold, to get insight rather than silver!”
    Proverbs 16:16

    Every child of God should think about the teaching the Bible gives us, and say:
    “So teach us to number our days, that we may apply our hearts to wisdom.”
    Psalms 90:12
