God left us His Holy Word, His commandments are with us, that is why it is good that we walk straight and do what is good before our God, since we must already fulfill His Word, if you do not do this, you will clearly walk in sin.
Every human being is instructed to do what is good, because he knows that what is good will always lead him on a clear and safe path, but he who strays and begins to walk wrongly before the Lord, he will have affliction and the presence of God will not be there his side.
The title of this article clearly commands us to obey, because if we don’t, we will be sinners. James 4:17 exhorts us and commands us to comply, doing what is good since we know it.
Therefore to him that knoweth to do good, and doeth it not, to him it is sin.
James 4:17
James urges to comply by doing the good that is in the Word of God, and it is a great challenge to comply by doing the good that is written in the Holy Scriptures, since the world in which we live calls evil good and good evil.
It is not the same to talk about humility, or to think about it, than to practice it every day, that is why we invite you to reflect. Let’s not only talk about the good that is in the Lord, let’s demonstrate it with facts, so that we do not fall into the sin of knowing what is good and not doing it.
From the beginning, God has always instructed His people through His commandments, statutes, and laws. These instructions were not given to burden humanity, but rather to guide us toward a life that reflects His holiness and goodness. When we obey the Word of God, we are walking in the light, and that light not only benefits our own lives but also becomes a testimony to those around us. Obedience is an act of love and reverence toward God, showing that we trust His wisdom more than our own understanding.
Knowing what is good implies responsibility. The believer cannot claim ignorance when the truth has already been revealed through Scripture. The Word of God teaches us how to love our neighbor, how to forgive, how to act with justice, and how to walk humbly before Him. When we know these things and yet choose to ignore them, our conscience bears witness against us. This is why James speaks so directly and firmly, reminding us that knowledge without action becomes a serious spiritual issue.
In our daily lives, there are countless opportunities to do good. Sometimes these opportunities seem small, such as offering a kind word, helping someone in need, or choosing honesty when dishonesty would be easier. However, in the eyes of God, these moments are significant. They reveal the condition of our hearts and our willingness to submit to His will. Obedience is often tested in these simple, everyday decisions.
The world encourages selfishness, pride, and indifference, but the Word of God calls us to a different standard. We are invited to live according to the values of the Kingdom of God, even when those values conflict with the culture around us. This requires courage, faith, and perseverance. Doing what is good is not always comfortable, but it always honors God and brings spiritual growth.
Let us remember that obedience is not about earning salvation, but about responding to the grace that God has already shown us. When we act according to His Word, we demonstrate gratitude for His mercy and faithfulness. May we examine our lives honestly, asking the Lord to help us align our actions with the truth we already know, so that our faith may be living, active, and pleasing before Him.
