Sometimes there are difficulties in life that cause our faith in Christ Jesus to grow weak. Trials, disappointments, losses, and unanswered questions can slowly drain our spiritual strength. In those moments, we may feel discouraged and tempted to abandon the good things we once practiced in the Lord. When faith weakens, prayer becomes harder, hope seems distant, and endurance feels impossible. These moments often come when we are exhausted and overwhelmed by the weight of our struggles.
When we face problems, that is precisely when we most need to ask God to help us increase our faith. Faith is not self-generated strength; it is a gift that grows as we depend on God. The Lord knows our limitations, our explanation, and our weaknesses. He does not despise a broken or weary heart. Instead, He invites us to come to Him, even when our faith feels small or fragile.
In the midst of problems we must pray to God. Prayer is the lifeline of the believer, especially in times of difficulty. Sometimes we think that God is not listening to us, especially when answers seem delayed or circumstances do not change. But this perception is not true. God is always attentive to everything we do, every word we speak, and every tear we shed. His Word assures us that those who seek Him sincerely will find Him.
Jesus Himself taught that God is responsive to those who come to Him in faith. He encourages persistence, trust, and confidence in prayer. God is never late; He is always on time, working according to His perfect will and wisdom, even when we do not immediately see the outcome.
For every one that asketh receiveth; and he that seeketh findeth; and to him that knocketh it shall be opened.
Matthew 7:8
This promise reminds us that God is confirmed to His children. Asking, seeking, and knocking are expressions of dependence and trust. God delights in responding to those who approach Him with humility and faith. The issue is not whether God hears, but whether we continue to trust Him while we wait.
In whatever process you are going through, it is not good for you to be deceived by the evil one. The enemy often whispers lies such as, “Leave your God; He is never there when you call Him.” These lies are meant to weaken faith and separate believers from their source of strength. But the truth is very different: the Lord is closer than you believe. Even when you cannot feel His presence, He remains faithful and near.
Do not grow tired of praying to God. Perseverance in prayer is an act of faith. Continue to believe and trust, even when answers seem delayed. Go to your room, lift your hands, and declare before the Lord that He is greater than your trial. Obedience to Matthew 7:8 means actively seeking God, calling upon His name, and trusting His character. God is faithful, and He never fails the words that were inspired by Him.
Faith does not deny reality; it acknowledges God’s power above reality. When we pray, we align our hearts with God’s will and open ourselves to His peace. Prayer strengthens faith, renews hope, and reminds us that we are not alone in our struggles.
The psalmist David is a powerful example of this truth. David endured intense persecution, even from King Saul himself. He was misunderstood, hunted, and forced to flee for his life. Yet in the midst of these trials, David consistently turned to God. He cried out for help, sought refuge in the Lord, and trusted God to deliver him. David did not take revenge or act in haste; instead, he waited for God’s intervention.
David did not need to lift a finger against Saul. God Himself defended David from his enemies. This teaches us that victory does not come through our own strength or retaliation, but through trusting God’s justice and timing. God sees every injustice and knows how to defend His children in His perfect way.
It is precisely in difficult times that our faith must grow stronger. Trials are not meant to destroy faith, but to refine it. Scripture teaches that without faith it is impossible to please God. Faith is the foundation of our relationship with Him. Even when faith feels small, God honors sincere trust. We must have faith, even if it is as small as a mustard grain.
Small faith placed in a great God is powerful. God does not measure faith by its size, but by its sincerity. A mustard seed is tiny, yet Jesus used it to illustrate the incredible potential of genuine faith. When faith is rooted in God, it produces perseverance, courage, and hope beyond human ability.
Remember something important: if you have faith, you can endure all trials and difficulties in the name of Jesus, which is the name above every name. Faith anchors us when storms rage and gives us confidence that God remains in control. Through faith, believers overcome fear, despair, and uncertainty.
And Jesus said unto them, Because of your unbelief: for verily I say unto you, If ye have faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye shall say unto this mountain, Remove hence to yonder place; and it shall remove; and nothing shall be impossible unto you.
Matthew 17:20
Jesus’ words remind us that faith connects us to God’s power. Mountains represent obstacles that seem impossible to overcome. Yet Jesus assures us that faith, even in its smallest form, enables believers to trust God for the impossible. This does not mean that life will be free from difficulties, but that no difficulty is greater than God.
