In the verse that we will see in this article we can clearly see the psalmist David giving thanks to God for his wonderful works, for everything that the Lord had done in the present and past.
The psalmist David asked the people to praise the Lord, to rejoice and rejoice in the Almighty God, because that was the day that the Lord had made.
The following verse is a thanksgiving for the salvation of the Lord, because his great power and mercy accompanied this great man of God and the people of Israel:
This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.
Psalm 118:24
After having gone through so many attacks, still being rejected by many, God has fulfilled him and has freed him on different occasions, He came to his aid.
Let us praise the Lord, let us rejoice and be glad for His great deeds, He is God and His mercy is for all eternity. This is the wonderful day that the Lord made, that was the word of the psalmist because he understood that salvation had come.
Praise the name of the Lord, we have been delivered, and His mercy has always accompanied us. Let us always be joyful and faithful before the Lord.
When we read these words spoken by David, we must remember that they were not written in a moment of comfort or ease, but after many years of trials, persecutions, and difficult circumstances. David knew what it meant to flee, to hide, to be betrayed, and to feel the weight of injustice. Yet, even after enduring all of this, his heart was filled with gratitude because he clearly recognized that every day he was alive was a gift from the Lord.
The expression “this is the day which the Lord hath made” is not limited to a specific event, but reflects a deep spiritual understanding. David acknowledged that God is sovereign over time, over history, and over each moment of our lives. Every sunrise, every opportunity to breathe, and every chance to walk in His ways is part of the Lord’s perfect design. That is why the psalmist invites the people to rejoice, not because circumstances are always favorable, but because God remains faithful.
Rejoicing in the Lord does not mean ignoring pain or pretending that difficulties do not exist. Rather, it means trusting that God is present even in the midst of adversity. David learned this lesson through experience. Many times he cried out to God, many times he waited patiently, and many times he saw the hand of the Lord deliver him when everything seemed lost. This is why his praise was sincere and rooted in truth.
The salvation mentioned in this psalm is not only physical deliverance from enemies, but also spiritual restoration. God saved David, strengthened his heart, and guided him according to His will. In the same way, God continues to work in the lives of His people today. Each day becomes an opportunity to experience His grace, to grow in faith, and to walk with confidence knowing that He goes before us.
As believers, we are also called to adopt this attitude of gratitude. Too often we focus on what we lack, on unanswered prayers, or on challenges that seem overwhelming. However, when we remember that the Lord is the author of each day, our perspective changes. Gratitude opens our eyes to see God’s faithfulness in both small and great things, and it strengthens our trust in Him.
David’s words encourage us to praise the Lord publicly and privately. Praise is not only expressed through songs, but also through obedience, faithfulness, and a heart that seeks to honor God in all things. When we rejoice in the day that the Lord has made, we are declaring our dependence on Him and acknowledging that our lives are in His hands.
Let us therefore embrace each day with joy, not because everything will always be easy, but because God’s mercy endures forever. Just as David experienced deliverance and salvation, we too can be confident that the Lord remains our refuge and strength. May our lives reflect constant praise, gratitude, and faith, honoring the God who makes every day meaningful.
