We know of the wonders that God has done from time to time, so we know that His power is great and wonderful, the Bible itself shows us and speaks of His power and majesty that dwell in Him.
Throughout the Scriptures we find countless testimonies of the mighty works of God, from creation itself to the deliverance of His people in times of distress. His power is not something abstract or distant, but something that has been manifested repeatedly in history and continues to be revealed in the lives of those who trust in Him. The heavens declare His glory, and the earth bears witness to His authority.
In Romans we find the Apostle Paul speaking of the greatness of God, this man speaks of the power of God, praising the greatness. Let us remember well who this man was according to the Scriptures.
Paul was once known as Saul of Tarsus, a persecutor of the church, zealous for the traditions of his fathers and convinced that he was serving God by opposing the followers of Christ. His life is a clear example of how the power of God can completely transform a human being. The same man who persecuted believers would later become one of the greatest proclaimers of the gospel.
Paul speaks of the power of God because He appeared in his life and was greatly blessed because he knew of God and since then his life changed, even his name was changed.
The encounter Paul had with the Lord on the road to Damascus marked a turning point that only the power of God could accomplish. No human argument or force could have changed his heart, but the revelation of Christ shattered his old way of thinking and gave him a new purpose. From that moment on, Paul dedicated his life to proclaiming the greatness and power of the God who had saved him.
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
Romans 1:19-20
These verses remind us that God has made Himself known to humanity in a clear way. Creation itself is a testimony of His eternal power and divine nature. Every detail of the universe points to a Creator who is wise, powerful, and sovereign. Even though God is invisible, His works are visible and understandable, leaving humanity without excuse for ignoring His existence.
The power of God becomes visible every day, because His work does not stop, but at every moment we see God make His power visible, for this reason we have not seen Him, but we believe and have this certainty of His great power and glory.
Faith plays a fundamental role in our relationship with God. Although we do not see Him with our physical eyes, we experience His power through His works, His provision, and His guidance in our daily lives. The believer recognizes that God sustains all things and that nothing happens outside of His will. This conviction strengthens our trust and helps us persevere in difficult times.
Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
Romans 1:21
This verse reveals a sad reality: knowing about God is not the same as honoring Him as God. Many recognize His existence but refuse to glorify Him or give thanks. When gratitude and reverence are absent, the human heart becomes proud and self-centered, leading to spiritual darkness.
This happened with these men who did not recognize the power of God, did not glorify Him, and did not thank Him, but their heart went straight to do evil and their heart was darkened in the entirety.
This warning is still relevant today. When people reject the power of God and live as if He were not Lord, they open the door to confusion and moral decay. On the other hand, those who acknowledge His power, glorify Him, and live with thankful hearts walk in the light of truth. Let us therefore recognize the greatness of our God, honor Him in all things, and proclaim His power with humility and gratitude, remembering that everything we are and have comes from Him.
