I cried to You, O Lord; I said: You are my refuge

Is there anyone else we can trust? There is only one and it is our Almighty God.

When we cry out to God in times of despair, we are taken care of, but in His time. God is our help and our hope. Do not doubt Him.

The trust in our creator must be firm and mature, so that we can withstand all difficulties.

He is peace in the midst of the storm, light in the midst of darkness, He comes to the life of those who feel hopeless. That is why we should praise His name and say “Oh Lord You are my hope forever”. As in Psalm 142: 5

5 I cried unto thee, O Lord: I said, Thou art my refuge and my portion in the land of the living.

6 Attend unto my cry; for I am brought very low: deliver me from my persecutors; for they are stronger than I.

Psalm 142:5-6

Although we are in lands where we are strange, God will be our help and refuge, our portion comes from Him. For many you will be a stranger, but not for God, because He knows all things, since they were created by Him and for Him.

The author of this psalm asked for God’s help, because of his struggles and processes, he asked the Lord to give him strength, since he was afflicted, but who will we go but You Lord?.

Remember that we must have a gentle and loving spirit, humble ourselves before God, don’t be strong in your own opinion, ask God, He does not denie help to a grieving soul.

Trusting God is not something that is developed overnight. It is a process that grows as we walk with Him, as we experience His faithfulness in the midst of trials and uncertainties. Many times we want immediate answers, quick solutions, or visible signs that God is working, but Scripture teaches us that true trust rests in God even when we do not understand His ways.

The psalmist’s cry in Psalm 142 reflects the reality of a heart overwhelmed by circumstances. He does not hide his pain nor pretend to be strong in his own abilities. Instead, he openly declares that God is his refuge and his portion in the land of the living. This confession is powerful, because it shows that when everything else fails, God remains sufficient. Our portion is not found in material possessions, human recognition, or personal strength, but in the presence of the Lord.

Many believers go through seasons where they feel isolated, misunderstood, or forgotten. Sometimes we may feel like strangers in the places where we live, work, or even within certain environments. However, God never sees us as strangers. He knows our hearts, our thoughts, and every struggle we face. Even when others overlook us, God is attentive to the cries of His children.

God’s help often comes in ways we do not expect. Sometimes He delivers immediately, and other times He strengthens us to endure. Both are expressions of His love. When the psalmist asked to be delivered from persecutors who were stronger than him, he acknowledged his own weakness. This teaches us an important lesson: recognizing our weakness is not a sign of failure, but an invitation for God’s power to work in us.

A gentle and humble spirit is essential in our relationship with God. Pride and self-reliance can block us from fully trusting Him. When we humble ourselves, we acknowledge that we need His guidance and His mercy every day. God does not reject a broken or grieving soul; on the contrary, He draws near to those who cry out to Him with sincerity.

In every season of life, whether in joy or sorrow, let our confidence remain in the Lord. He is our refuge, our portion, and our eternal hope. Even when the path seems dark, His light continues to guide us, reminding us that we are never alone and that our trust in Him will never be in vain.
