Trust in God

Our trust must always be placed in the hands of the Lord our God, we must not trust even in ourselves, that is what the Holy Word of God teaches us in the following verse:

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.

Proverbs 3:5

This biblical exhortation is one of the most powerful and practical teachings for the life of every believer. Trusting in the Lord with all the heart implies a complete surrender of our thoughts, plans, and decisions to God. It is not a partial trust, nor a conditional one, but a full confidence that recognizes God as sovereign over every area of our lives. When Scripture tells us not to lean on our own understanding, it reminds us of our human limitations and the danger of depending solely on our reasoning.

How many people in this world place their trust in others, worse yet, many have all their confidence placed in themselves, but the Bible teaches us that it is in Him that we should place our trust, and we should not rely on our own understanding.

Human wisdom is often influenced by emotions, circumstances, and personal interests. What seems right to us today may lead us astray tomorrow. God, however, sees the end from the beginning. His understanding is perfect, His judgments are just, and His guidance never fails. That is why trusting Him is not a sign of weakness, but of spiritual maturity and humility before His presence.

We must all put it in the hands of the One who rescued us from eternal death. It is true that He gives us the ability to survive day by day, and that is why we must trust Him, because it is He who helps us make the best decisions and gives us strength to continue moving forward in the journey of this life.

Every step we take, every decision we make, and every challenge we face should be brought before God in prayer. When we trust Him, we acknowledge that our lives belong to Him and that He knows what is best for us. Even in moments of uncertainty, pain, or confusion, trusting God allows us to walk in peace, knowing that He is in control.

Earlier we mentioned people who trust others, but let’s take a look at what the Bible tells us about this:

Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

Jeremiah 17:5

This verse does not teach us to despise people, but it warns us about placing our ultimate confidence in human beings. People can fail, disappoint, or abandon us, but God remains faithful forever. When our trust is placed primarily in others, our hearts slowly drift away from the Lord, and we begin to depend more on human strength than on divine guidance.

And we must not trust mortals, because there is only one who is Faithful and True, that is Jesus Christ our Lord, therefore, we will repeat it again and again, it is in Him that we must place all our trust, it is to Him to who we should go when we must make an important decision, it is He who guides us in the best way.

Jesus Christ is the perfect example of faithfulness. He never changes, He never lies, and He never abandons those who seek Him with a sincere heart. When we trust in Christ, we are building our lives on a firm foundation that will not collapse in times of trial. His Word is our guide, His Spirit our comforter, and His grace our constant support.

May our God and Savior help us every day to overcome all obstacles that arise in our journey, that all our trust be always placed in His Powerful Hands. Let us learn to surrender our worries, fears, and plans to Him, confident that He will direct our paths according to His perfect will and unfailing love.

Stand firm in the Lord
Because You, Lord, bless the righteous, with a shield
