The Bible has returned to the government the palace in Bolivia

After the resignation of Evo Morales to the presidency of Bolivia, the interim president Jeanine Áñez, who held the position of second vice president of the Senate, expressed the following when addressing the former Government Palace: The Bible returns to the Palace. Her words quickly traveled through international media, generating reactions of joy among Christian communities and debates in the political sphere. However, beyond the political tensions surrounding that moment in Bolivia, the symbolic value of her declaration resonated deeply in the hearts of those who long to see God’s Word honored in places of authority.

While walking with difficulty among the group of opponents that accompanied her, Áñez, with her arms outstretched and The Holy Scriptures lifted like a shield, pronounced: “He has allowed the Bible to return to the Palace, may He bless us.” The image was striking: a woman entering a place of governmental power holding the Bible as a symbol of hope, justice, and moral restoration. While she spoke, those present exclaimed: “Glory to God,” as if witnessing not just a political transition, but a moment that carried profound spiritual significance.

For many believers in Bolivia and in different parts of the world, that declaration represented more than a change in political leadership; it represented the longing for moral values to be restored in public life. The Bible, often removed from public institutions, returned symbolically to a place of national decision-making. Whether one stands on one side or another of Bolivia’s political spectrum, it is undeniable that the gesture had a powerful meaning: the acknowledgment that God’s Word still speaks, still guides, and still inspires nations that recognize their need for justice and righteousness.

Áñez also recognized the civic and social movements for thinking only of Bolivia: “This is for Bolivia, the indigenous brothers also accompany us, the peasant brothers also accompany us, the churches accompany us, because this is what Bolivia wants: to live in peace, live in democracy, live in freedom. We bet on it and we risked it, and it could be done.” Her statement highlighted the unity of different social groups, showing that the desire for peace and stability transcended political alliances.

For Christians, it is significant to see a public acknowledgment of the Bible in government spaces. Throughout history, Scripture has influenced entire nations, shaping laws, justice systems, and ethical principles. When leaders express respect for the Word of God, believers are reminded that God is still able to move hearts in the highest positions of authority. Even in a world filled with division, corruption, and spiritual darkness, God continues to open doors for His Word to be honored and proclaimed.

It is good to know that not everything is lost in this world, and that in the midst of tribulations we can see the hand of God working at the end. Moments like these remind us that God remains sovereign over the nations. The Bible teaches us that “the Most High rules in the kingdom of men” and that He “puts up kings and removes kings.” Therefore, when we see acts that acknowledge Scripture and exalt God’s authority, our faith is strengthened, knowing that God still has control even in chaotic times.

May God continue to bless Bolivia, guiding its leaders with wisdom, humility, and fear of the Lord. And may we continue to see God’s Word penetrate the houses of government of different countries around the world. The true blessing of a nation does not come from political power or economic strength, but from honoring God and His Word. As Scripture says: “Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord.”

Let us pray that in every nation, including our own, hearts may turn to the Lord, and that His Word may once again take the central place it deserves—not just in palaces or parliaments, but in our homes, families, and daily lives. Because when the Bible returns to the center, righteousness flourishes, peace increases, and God’s presence becomes evident among His people.

Merciful and gracious is the Lord
Let's live for eternal things
