Being close to the Lord is the best thing that has happened to us, because when we are close to Him we feel more than secure. From Him we receive love, peace, patience, wisdom, and guidance for every step we take. His presence fills the empty spaces of our soul and gives us strength when we feel weak. For this reason it is important that we love the Lord with all our heart, because everything we need is found only in Him.
I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.
Proverbs 8:17
The book of Proverbs, written by Solomon, tells us that we must love the Lord all the time. Loving God is not merely an emotion; it is a lifestyle of obedience, submission, and reverence. The verse says, “I love them that love me,” not because God depends on our love, but because those who love Him are the ones who live in intimate fellowship with Him. A person who loves God seeks Him, desires His presence, and longs to walk according to His ways.
It is important that we seek the Lord early—not only early in the day, but early in every season of life, early in every decision, early in every trial. When we make God our first option and not our last resort, we experience His guidance in a deeper way. The Scripture says, “those who seek me early shall find me,” reminding us that those who intentionally pursue God will never be disappointed. He delights in being found by those whose hearts genuinely seek Him.
How can we show that we love God? By leaving everything we love most if those things are hindering our relationship with Him. Loving God means putting Him above our desires, ambitions, and comforts. It means surrendering attitudes or habits that distance us from His presence. Loving God means being faithful to Him in all things—faithful in obedience, faithful in prayer, faithful in worship, faithful in our conduct, and faithful in guarding our hearts from anything that competes with Him.
We show our love for God when we follow His commandments and seek to walk uprightly before Him. Jesus Himself said, “If you love me, keep my commandments.” Love that does not produce obedience is only a word, not a reality. True love for God transforms our decisions, our character, and even the way we treat others.
Riches and honour are with me; yea, durable riches and righteousness.
Proverbs 8:18
We can say that the greatest wealth we can have is the love that God has for us. The love of God is infinite, lasting, and remains forever. It does not fade, weaken, or change with time. Human love is fragile, but God’s love is eternal. We must treasure this precious love that the Father gives to each one of us, because it is the only wealth that cannot be stolen, lost, or destroyed.
A person without the true love of God is nothing, because when he is without this love he is empty, without hope, and without purpose. He may possess material riches, fame, or power, but if he lacks the love of God, his soul remains poor. Without God’s love, people become hard, bitter, and selfish, mistreating others because they themselves lack the only love that can soften the human heart. No one can give us this perfect love but God.
Everything that God gives is lasting. Every blessing, every promise, every work He does in us has eternal value. We can look at creation itself and see the perfect design and dedication of a God who loves us. If God took such care in creating us, how much more should we love Him, seek Him early, and honor Him with our lives?
Therefore, let us love God above everything and seek Him from early in our day and early in our hearts. Those who walk close to the Lord will find peace, wisdom, strength, and blessings that endure. Loving Him is the greatest privilege we have, and seeking Him is the surest path to a fulfilled and secure life.

Sometimes we can see and hear how some people in evangelical meetings say: “I love you, Jesus”. That sounds beautiful and is a reflection of what is in that girl or fellow: that person (who pronounces those words) feels something which comes out of their hearts, from within.
Without thinking that those words of love may be just the fruit of the moment, or some emotion that springs out from choral songs, or a sensation produced by being surrounded by a great crowd of people singing, really the love the Father and his Son Jesus feel for us must be reciprocated with our love. The proverb tells:
“I love them that love me; and those that seek me early shall find me.”

If we want to benefit from the promise of God, that says he loves people who love Him, it is good for us to love the Lord. In that way we’ll receive all the blessings the love of God pours into our lives.
But it is not easy for any of us to love our spiritual brother, whom we can see: how much difficult it is for us to love God, whom we don’t see!
There is one thing we can do: to seek Him in the morning.
Like the psalmist did, we could imitate him and do the same:
“My voice shall you hear in the morning, O LORD; in the morning will I direct my prayer to you, and will look up.” (Psalm 5:3)
The Lord said we shall find Him early, in the morning. When a believer finds the Lord, it is sure he will love Him.
We need to love God and be grateful people to Him for all the benefits he has given us, especially the salvation of our souls and eternal Life.
Besides, he will look after us and we shall not want.
The Lord God loves us, Jesus loves us: so let’s love our God.
