Following Jesus is the greatest challenge of our lives, since being a Christian demands that we have to deny many things for the love of Christ. The Lord himself said: “Everyone who wants to follow me, take his cross every day, deny yourself and follow me”. This is about walking in Christ, being like Him, walking like He lived living a life apart from sin.
The apostle Paul wrote:
6 As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
7 Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.
Colossians 2:6-7
One truth that we must always carry with us and understand is that Christ is the center of everything, He is the cornerstone, He must mean everything to us and if we isolate Him from our lives then we could no longer be called Christians, since Christ is the one that gives the reason to be to this movement that nothing has been able to stop it.
The apostle Paul also teaches us that we must look at the target of the sovereign vocation that is Christ Jesus.
Beloved brethren, we have been called to proclaim Christ and the truths of the gospel, teaching men that there is no other way to reach the Father except in Christ, that He is the only means to obtain salvation, since He gave His precious blood for us on the cross of Calvary to give us life.
So, if we have received Him, does not that mean we should walk like Him? Paul also said: “Be imitators of me, as I am of Christ” (1 Corinthians 11:1). Christ is our example, our best example, since He was faultless and loved us with a love that surpasses all love.
Beloved brothers, let us live for Christ, let us walk in Him as children of light that we are.
Walk in Him
==========
I rejoice in reading the words of today’s message: because, truly, Christ is the central part of everything in our lives. I rejoice as I read and feel myself grateful to Him, who is the way we have to get fellowship with the Father.
We must take notice that it is the Father who has taken us to Jesus.
“And he said, Therefore said I to you, that no man can come to me, except it were given to him of my Father.”
(John 6:65)
The Lord Jesus Christ prayed to the Father that his people would be one: only one people through his name.
“Holy Father, keep through your own name those whom you have given me, that they may be one, as we are.”
(John 17:11)
It is the Father who keeps us in his name so that we, his children, are one as Jesus is one with the Father.
Jesus is all in all his followers, and we must keep faith with Him firmly, so that we can live in Him. Without Christ we are nothing because all blessings we receive come through Him.
We need to be together with him and walk in Him in order to have life. Jesus tells us this: “Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can you, except you abide in me.”
Some years later the apostle Paul wrote:
“As ye have therefore received Christ Jesus the Lord, so walk ye in him:
Rooted and built up in him, and stablished in the faith, as ye have been taught, abounding therein with thanksgiving.”
Colossians 2:6-7
All people who wish to live eternally in heavenly places with Jesus, must walk in Him. Love him with all our hearts, be grateful to Him for his goodness and his great love with which he has loved us.
May the Lord God be praised in the name of Jesus, by the leading of the Holy Spirit
