Every day of our lives we must thank God, because He hears His children and never forgets them. Even in our hardest seasons, we can keep trusting God in hard times with a faithful heart.
God Never Forgets His Children
Every day of our lives we must thank God for His answers to us, because He has never forgotten His children. The Lord does not abandon those who belong to Him, nor does He ignore the cry of a sincere heart. Sometimes His answer comes quickly, and other times it comes after a season of waiting, but the believer must remember this truth: God is always faithful. He knows what we need, He knows what we suffer, and He knows the exact moment in which His answer will bring the greatest glory to His name and the greatest good to our souls.
God has never left the righteous forsaken. He has not forgotten the poor, the widow, the orphan, the sick, the blind, the weak, or the person who feels alone. Many times human beings forget one another, but God never forgets His people. His eyes are upon them, His mercy surrounds them, and His hand sustains them. This is why we must learn to be patient, because God never arrives late. He is not controlled by our impatience, nor limited by our understanding. He is always near, always wise, and always working.
There are moments when we think that because we do not see an immediate answer, God has not listened. But silence does not mean absence. Waiting does not mean abandonment. A delay does not mean denial. The Lord often uses seasons of waiting to teach us dependence, humility, perseverance, and faith. He shapes our character in the process, showing us that our hope must not rest merely in receiving what we ask for, but in trusting the One who hears us.
Gratitude in Every Season
Gratitude should be a constant attitude in the life of every believer. We should not thank God only when everything is easy, when doors open quickly, or when blessings are visible. We must also learn to thank Him in trials, because trials reveal what is truly in our hearts. When we thank God in difficult moments, we are declaring that He remains good even when life is painful. We are confessing that His wisdom is greater than our confusion and that His mercy is stronger than our fears.
Many people only praise God when they receive what they wanted. But mature faith learns to praise God before the answer arrives. It says, “Lord, I do not understand everything, but I know You are good.” This kind of gratitude honors God because it is not built on circumstances. It is built on His character. The believer who knows God can worship in the valley, pray in the storm, and remain firm when human strength begins to fail.
When we learn to thank God not only for what He gives, but also for what He teaches us through trials, our faith matures and our relationship with Him grows stronger. God works in times and ways that are perfect, even when our human understanding cannot fully grasp His plans. He is not careless with our pain. He is not indifferent to our tears. He uses every season to draw us closer to Him.
The Lord Is Good and Full of Mercy
For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.
Psalm 86:5
This verse reminds us of one of the most beautiful attributes of God: His mercy. The Lord is good, ready to forgive, and abundant in mercy toward all who call upon Him. This is a precious truth for the believer, because we do not approach God based on our own perfection. We come before Him because He is merciful. We call upon Him because He is compassionate. We seek Him because He has revealed Himself as a God who receives the humble and forgives the repentant.
The Lord is not reluctant to forgive. He does not withhold compassion from those who seek Him with a sincere heart. His goodness is not limited by our failures, but His mercy is shown to those who humble themselves before Him. This does not mean that God ignores sin, because He is holy and just. Rather, it means that He has made a way for sinners to receive forgiveness through His grace. That mercy should move us to repentance, worship, and gratitude.
Praise the Lord, all the inhabitants of the earth. Give glory and honor to the Almighty, because God is good to us. His mercies are with all who humble themselves and call upon His name. Every breath, every sunrise, every protection, every answer to prayer, and every moment of strength is evidence that the Lord continues to sustain us. We are alive because of His mercy. We stand because of His mercy. We can pray because His mercy has opened the way.
Praise Lifts Our Eyes to God
When we praise God, we acknowledge who He is and what He does. Praise lifts our eyes from our problems and places them on the greatness of the Lord. It reminds us that our difficulties are not greater than His power, that our fears are not stronger than His promises, and that our needs are not hidden from His sight. Praise is not denial of reality; it is faith looking beyond reality to the God who reigns over all things.
Even in moments of uncertainty, praise becomes an act of faith. When the believer praises God in the middle of trouble, he is declaring that God remains sovereign and faithful regardless of circumstances. He is saying, “Lord, I still believe You are good. I still believe You are near. I still believe You are worthy.” This kind of praise strengthens the heart because it takes our focus away from anxiety and places it on the One who never changes.
The greatness of the Lord surrounds us. We are delivered by His mercy, and day and night we see His goodness in our lives. God is faithful and true. He never fails, although sometimes we despair and ask, “Where is God?” But the Lord is always aware of us. He sees the tear that no one else sees. He hears the prayer that no one else hears. He understands the burden that no one else understands.
This is why believers must remember the eternal mercy of God. The Scriptures continually remind us that the mercy of the Lord endures forever, and this truth gives strength to the weary heart. If His mercy depended on our strength, we would have no hope. But because His mercy flows from His own goodness, we can trust Him every day.
God Hears the Voice of Prayer
Give ear, O Lord, unto my prayer; and attend to the voice of my supplications.
Psalm 86:6
Prayer is not merely a request list presented to God. It is a sincere conversation with our Creator. When we pray, we express our dependence on Him and recognize that He alone has the authority, wisdom, and power to act. Prayer humbles us because it reminds us that we are not in control. We cannot solve everything, change every heart, open every door, or carry every burden by ourselves. We need the Lord.
The psalmist asks God to give ear to his prayer and attend to the voice of his supplications. This is the cry of a person who knows that God listens. David does not pray to an idol that cannot hear, nor to a distant force that does not care. He prays to the living God, the Lord who is good, merciful, and attentive to the cry of His people. This should encourage every believer to pray with confidence and humility.
Many people make the mistake of saying that God never listens to them. But those who trust in the Lord know that God does listen. The problem is that sometimes we come before God not with humble petitions, but with demands. We want God to act immediately, exactly as we say, and at the moment we choose. But we must remember that we cannot give orders to God as though He were our servant. God is God, and He responds according to His perfect wisdom.
Prayer teaches us to submit our desires to the will of God. It does not mean that we stop asking, nor that we hide our pain. We can bring our needs, fears, tears, and supplications before the Lord. But we must do so with reverence, trusting that His answer will always be wiser than our request. He may say yes, He may say no, or He may tell us to wait. In every case, the believer must trust His heart.
The Lord Is Attentive to Our Cry
God listens attentively to the cries of His people, especially when they come from a humble and trusting heart. The world may ignore the afflicted, but the Lord does not. People may grow tired of hearing our burdens, but God does not become weary. Friends may not understand our tears, but God understands perfectly. This is why prayer is such a gift. It brings the heart before the only One who has complete knowledge and perfect compassion.
There are moments when the answer seems slow, but the believer must keep praying. Prayer is not wasted. No sincere cry disappears into emptiness. The Lord hears with wisdom, love, and purpose. Sometimes He changes the situation, and sometimes He changes us while we are still in the situation. Sometimes He removes the burden, and sometimes He gives strength to carry it. Sometimes He opens the door, and sometimes He teaches us to wait before it opens.
This is why we must remember that the Lord is attentive to our cry. He does not answer according to human impatience, but according to divine perfection. His timing is not late. His silence is not neglect. His way is not confusion. The believer who understands this can continue praying, even when the answer has not yet appeared.
Learning to Rest in God’s Sovereignty
Understanding God’s sovereignty helps us rest in His will. When we submit our desires to Him, we learn to trust His timing and His decisions, knowing that everything He allows has a purpose that ultimately works for our good and His glory. This does not mean that every situation is easy to understand. There are painful seasons that make us weep, questions that remain unanswered for a time, and burdens that feel too heavy. But faith rests not in explanations, but in God Himself.
God’s sovereignty means that He rules over all things with wisdom and power. Nothing surprises Him. Nothing escapes His control. Nothing happens outside His knowledge. For the believer, this truth brings comfort, because our lives are not governed by chance. We are in the hands of the Lord. Even when people act against us, even when circumstances change suddenly, and even when we do not understand the road ahead, God remains King.
This is why we must be careful not to measure God’s love by how quickly He answers us. A delayed answer is not proof of rejection. Sometimes God delays because He is preparing something greater. Sometimes He delays because He is preparing our hearts. Sometimes He delays because the process itself is part of the blessing. Faith learns to say, “Lord, I trust You not only when You answer, but also while I wait.”
Calling Upon God in the Day of Trouble
In the day of my trouble I will call upon thee: for thou wilt answer me.
Psalm 86:7
This verse is full of confidence. David says that in the day of trouble he will call upon the Lord because he knows that God will answer him. Notice that trouble does not silence his prayer. Trouble pushes him toward God. This is what faith does. When fear comes, faith prays. When affliction comes, faith seeks the Lord. When weakness appears, faith runs to the strength of God.
It is good that we continue trusting in the Lord, just as David trusted in God. David knew that the Lord responded to him in his moments of anguish. He had experienced danger, enemies, betrayal, and deep sorrow, but through it all he learned that God was faithful. His confidence was not based on perfect circumstances, but on the character of the Lord.
In the day of trouble, many people run first to human solutions, complaints, fear, or despair. But the believer must run to God. This does not mean that we cannot seek help, counsel, or practical solutions, but our first dependence must be on the Lord. He is our refuge. He is our strength. He is our Father. He knows how to sustain us when the heart feels weak.
God Arrives at the Perfect Time
One of the hardest lessons for the believer is learning to wait. We know that God can answer, but we struggle when He does not answer according to our schedule. We know that He is powerful, but we become restless when the process takes longer than expected. Yet Scripture teaches us that patience is part of faith. Waiting on God is not passive resignation; it is active trust. It is continuing to pray, obey, and hope while God works.
The Lord never arrives late. He arrives according to His perfect time. What seems delayed to us may be exactly on time in the wisdom of God. He sees the beginning and the end. He knows the hidden details we cannot see. He understands what is best for our souls. Therefore, we must not allow impatience to make us doubt His goodness.
There are answers that come after much prayer because God is teaching perseverance. There are doors that open after long seasons because God is teaching dependence. There are victories that come after battles because God is teaching us that strength comes from Him. This is why we can say with confidence that God arrives on time, even when our hearts feel tired of waiting.
Thank God Before and After the Answer
Many people thank God after the answer comes, but the believer must also learn to thank Him before the answer arrives. This is not because we pretend everything is easy, but because we trust the character of God. Gratitude before the answer is a powerful expression of faith. It says, “Lord, I know You hear me. I know You are working. I know You will do what is right.”
Thanksgiving protects the heart from bitterness. When we stop thanking God, complaints begin to grow. When complaints grow, faith becomes weak. But when gratitude fills the heart, we remember the many ways God has already helped us. We remember past mercies, past deliverances, past answers, and past provisions. The God who helped us yesterday is still faithful today.
Every believer should build a life of remembrance. We must remember the prayers God answered, the dangers He removed, the doors He opened, the sins He forgave, the strength He gave, and the mercy He showed. Remembering these things helps us face new troubles with renewed confidence. If God has been faithful before, He will continue to be faithful.
Keep Trusting the Lord
Just as David confidently called upon the Lord in times of trouble, we too are invited to place our full trust in God. He hears our prayers, strengthens us in weakness, and answers according to His perfect will. Let us remain steadfast, patient, and faithful, knowing that the Lord never forgets those who seek Him with all their heart.
Do not say that God has forgotten you simply because you are still waiting. Do not say that He does not hear you simply because the answer has not come in the way you expected. Do not allow your circumstances to speak louder than the Word of God. The Lord is good, ready to forgive, abundant in mercy, attentive to prayer, and faithful in the day of trouble.
Therefore, let us thank God every day. Let us praise Him in joy and in sorrow. Let us pray with humility and confidence. Let us wait with patience. Let us trust His timing. Let us call upon Him in the day of trouble. The Lord hears His children, answers according to His perfect will, and never abandons those who place their hope in Him.

You answer me
============
The Lord God is good: he shows his goodness in his works and all he has created. He loves people and wants them to go near Him.
We, men and women, are evil people by nature: we transgress his commandments because the love of God is not in us. We sin and he forgives us.
If we call to Him, he answer us and has mercy on us. He is ready to hear all people who pray to him.
This is what the psalmist tells us in the verse we can read from Psalm 86:5:
“For thou, Lord, art good, and ready to forgive; and plenteous in mercy unto all them that call upon thee.”
We must not forget that the Lord God is near his children. He knows all about them, and we have access to the Throne of his grace through the Way—who is the Lord Jesus Christ—and the power of the Holy Spirit, who intercede for us with the Father.
Let’s be grateful to Him and glorify Him with a humble and abased heart.
AMEN.
