My portion is God

God must always be our portion, for He alone sustains us at every moment of our lives. He is the One who upholds us, who strengthens us in weakness, who renews us when our spirit feels faint, and who fills us with His Word of life when everything around us seems uncertain. There is no greater treasure than to know that God Himself is our inheritance, our safe place, and the One who walks with us through valleys and mountains.

This portion that God gives us should never be rejected or ignored, because it is precisely this divine portion that keeps our eyes open and our hearts attentive to everything that tries to harm us. The Lord is our guard, our shield, and our constant help. When we trust Him, we find security that cannot be shaken by circumstances.

There are times when we tend to faint spiritually and emotionally. Life presents situations that exhaust us, and sometimes, instead of turning to God, we turn to mortals who—although they may have good intentions—cannot give us the true wisdom we need. Human advice is limited, imperfect, and often influenced by emotion or misunderstanding. But the counsel of God is perfect, eternal, and always aligned with what is truly best for our souls.

My flesh and my heart faileth: but God is the strength of my heart, and my portion for ever.

Psalm 73:26

These words of the psalmist are a profound confession of human weakness and divine strength. It is comforting to hear encouraging words in moments of affliction, in moments when we feel we can no longer endure, when our flesh is exhausted and our spirit feels overwhelmed. But beyond words, what we truly need is God Himself—His strength, His comfort, His power working in the depths of our being.

Only God can send us the portion we need to stand again. Only He can revive a weary heart or restore a discouraged soul. He is the Rock that lifts us when we have fallen, the strength that sustains us, and the refuge that protects us. There is no one who comes before Him with a sincere heart and is rejected, for Scripture tells us that God does not despise a contrite and humble spirit.

The psalmist knew this well. Throughout his writings, he continually placed his trust in the Lord. Even when he faced battles, persecution, fear, and uncertainty, he always recognized God as his refuge. His praise did not depend on circumstances but on the unchanging character of God.

We must learn this same lesson every day: if we do not place our soul and spirit in the hands of the Lord, we will never be truly safe. God must be our strength and our confidence. There is no one more trustworthy than Him, no one more faithful, no one more capable of carrying us through every trial. Who else could we trust besides the Lord? Every human being has limits, but God is infinite in power, mercy, and faithfulness.

A person guarded by another human might find temporary safety, but real security—eternal and unshakable—comes only from being under the care of Almighty God. When we trust in Him, we stand firm. When we hide under His wings, we find rest. When we cling to His Word, we receive direction. And when we walk with Him daily, He gives us His portion at exactly the right time.

If you are standing on the Rock of salvation, then do not let go. Stay firm. Hold tightly to the God who sustains you. With Him, you will remain safe in all your ways, strengthened in every battle, and encouraged in every moment of weakness. For God is and will always be your portion, your strength, and your eternal refuge.

Himself took our infirmities, and bare our sicknesses
Greater love hath no man than this
