The mercy of God is what sustains us and keeps us every day, so we must ask the Lord to have mercy on us every day, just like the psalmist David did.
The Foundational Nature of Divine Mercy
David humbled himself before God, asking Him to keep him at all times, to have mercy on him. The psalmist never lost hope that God would show mercy to him. There was no despair in him, because he knew with absolute certainty that God would go to his aid. David understood that without the mercy of the Lord, no one can stand; therefore, he cried out constantly, trusting that the One who had helped him before would help him again. The mercy of God is not merely an occasional act of kindness; it is the very foundation of our existence. When we wake up each morning, it is by His grace that we have breath in our lungs and the opportunity to walk in His light.
Many people view mercy as something reserved only for those who have committed great errors, but in the biblical sense, mercy is the daily provision of God’s goodness that sustains us despite our limitations. David realized that he was inherently dependent on his Creator. This realization is not a sign of weakness, but of profound spiritual maturity. To acknowledge that you cannot survive or thrive without the constant, steady hand of the Almighty is the first step toward a life of genuine peace and stability.
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice!
Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.Psalm 27:7
The Power of Persistent Prayer
Never tire of crying out to God, nor of singing praises in times of difficulty, because the Lord hears your voice. He is always attentive to your supplications, and even though you cannot see Him, He is always around you to strengthen you and to have mercy on you. His presence surrounds His children, and His compassion renews our strength when we feel weak or overwhelmed. When life becomes chaotic, it is easy to feel as though our prayers are hitting the ceiling, but the truth is that God is intimately acquainted with every whisper of our hearts. He does not just hear the words; He understands the weight of our anxieties and the depth of our needs.
Prayer is the bridge between our human fragility and God’s infinite power. When we cry out to Him, we are essentially inviting Him to take control of the situations that exceed our capacity. The act of bringing our burdens to Him in prayer creates a space for Him to act, and more importantly, a space for us to align our hearts with His will. Even when the answer is not immediate, the process of persistent prayer changes us. It refines our perspective, softens our hearts, and builds a foundation of trust that cannot be shaken by the storms of life.
The Trap of Impatience and the Importance of God’s Timing
It is true that many, when they face problems, are not patient. They do not wait for God’s timing, because all they want is to escape their situation as quickly as possible. They seek a rapid solution without remembering that God works according to His perfect plans. Sadly, some people, once God opens the way for them and helps them overcome their difficulties, turn away from Him. They forget the Lord because their interest was only to leave the storm they were in, not to remain close to the One who delivered them.
True spiritual growth is often found in the waiting room of faith. Patience is not just the ability to wait; it is how we behave while we are waiting. When we try to force outcomes, we often bypass the very lessons God is trying to teach us. We must remember that God’s perspective is eternal, whereas ours is limited by the current moment. He sees the end from the beginning, and His delays are rarely denials. They are opportunities for us to grow in character, integrity, and trust.
If our relationship with God is transaction-based—where we only call upon Him when we need a “quick fix”—we miss the beauty of His friendship. He does not want to be treated like a vending machine of miracles; He wants to be the Lord of our lives. When we remain faithful to Him regardless of our circumstances, we prove that our devotion is genuine. This steadfastness is the hallmark of a true disciple who understands that the reward is not just the answer to the prayer, but the deeper intimacy with God that comes through the journey.
When You said, “Seek My face,”
My heart said to You, “Your face, Lord, I will seek.”Psalm 27:8
The Significance of Seeking the Face of God
It is important that each day we get closer and closer to the Lord, because when we look for Him, our lives change completely. Every day we come to know more of His great mercy and His love toward each one of us. Seeking the face of God means longing for His presence, His guidance, and His truth. It means understanding that life only finds meaning when it is lived in communion with Him. Those who seek the Lord consistently grow in faith, in patience, and in gratitude.
Seeking the face of God is an active pursuit. It involves intentional time spent in His Word, quiet contemplation, and an open heart ready to receive His correction and encouragement. When we seek His face, we are looking for His character, His heart, and His desires. We are moving beyond asking “What can You do for me?” to asking “Who are You, and how can I reflect Your nature?” This shift in focus is transformative. It changes how we react to people, how we handle conflict, and how we view our purpose in the world.
The pursuit of God’s presence should be the highest ambition of our lives. When we prioritize this, the distractions of the world lose their power over us. We find a sense of fulfillment that material possessions or human accolades can never provide. By seeking Him in the morning, throughout the day, and before we rest, we create a rhythm of holiness that protects our minds and guides our steps through the most complex decisions.
Do not hide Your face from me;
Do not turn Your servant away in anger;
You have been my help;
Do not leave me nor forsake me,
O God of my salvation.Psalm 27:9
Resting in the Assurance of Divine Help
He is the God of our salvation; therefore, we must look for Him every day. Let us draw near to Him, walk under His statutes, know His Word, and enjoy His mercies that He pours out upon us continually. God has never failed us, and He never will, because His character is just and merciful. In every season of life—whether joyful or painful—He remains faithful. His promises are not dependent on our feelings but on His immutable, unchanging nature.
When David asks God not to forsake him, he is expressing the human desire for constant security. We are vulnerable creatures, prone to wander and prone to fear. Yet, the testimony of the Scriptures is clear: God is an ever-present help in times of trouble. He is the anchor that holds us when the currents of life attempt to pull us away from our faith. Recognizing Him as the God of our salvation means acknowledging that He is the architect of our redemption and the Sustainer of our daily lives.
We should find great comfort in the fact that God is not a distant deity. He is deeply invested in the details of your life. He knows your sorrows, He counts your tears, and He takes pleasure in your obedience. When you feel abandoned or alone, remember that your emotions do not dictate the reality of His presence. He has promised to never leave you nor forsake you. This promise is the bedrock of our peace. It allows us to face the unknown with confidence, knowing that we are walking under the shadow of the Almighty.
Cultivating a Heart of Continual Gratitude
Let us not forget that God delights in showing mercy to those who seek Him with a sincere heart. If we cry out to Him, He hears. If we draw near to Him, He receives us. And if we depend on Him, His mercy will sustain us day after day. May our hearts respond like David’s: “Your face, Lord, I will seek.” Living a life of gratitude is the natural overflow of experiencing His mercy. When we reflect on where He has brought us from, it becomes impossible not to praise Him.
Gratitude is more than a feeling; it is a discipline. It involves actively acknowledging God’s hand in our lives, even when things do not go as planned. It involves looking past the immediate frustration to see the overarching grace that keeps us upright. When we develop this habit, our hearts become lighter, our minds clearer, and our faith stronger. We begin to see the world not as a battlefield of problems, but as a theater of God’s goodness.
In conclusion, the journey of faith is a lifelong commitment to seeking the face of the One who first loved us. It is a walk characterized by humility, persistent prayer, patient waiting, and radical gratitude. As you continue your walk, let the words of the psalmist serve as your guiding light. No matter how deep the shadows, no matter how loud the noise of the world, choose to turn your gaze toward the Father. In His face, you will find the answers you seek, the peace you crave, and the mercy that will carry you home. The invitation is open, the path is clear, and the promise of His presence is eternal. Walk in this confidence, and let your life be a testament to the enduring mercy of God.

Lord, have mercy on me and answer me
=======================
Hear, O Lord, when I cry with my voice! Have mercy also upon me, and answer me.
Psalm 27:7
We do not know the Will or God about our life here in this World where He has determined we live. For a believer this life is in the hand of God, nothing will separate him from his love, and to those who love God all things work together for good.
Anyone who has been called by the Lord can believe his life is sure in the hands of Him because the Lord God has a purpose for his life. The Devil can assail a believer and try to change his mind or make him leave the way of the Lord, but if you are a child of God, he protects you against evil spirits that want to separate you from your Lord and saviour.
“And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.” Romans 8:28
We always need to be near the Lord so that we receive help and strength to resist in adversitties
May the Lord God be our refuge on the bad day.
AMEN
