The hands of God have always delivered us from the evil one. Sometimes we may feel abandoned, as if His protection has withdrawn or His presence has become distant. Yet this perception is not reality. God is always watching over us, sustaining us in ways that we often fail to recognize.
From the beginning of our lives until this very moment, the invisible hand of God has been guiding, protecting, and preserving us. There are dangers we never saw, paths we never took, and decisions we made that could have destroyed us, yet somehow we were kept. That “somehow” is not coincidence—it is divine providence. God’s hands are never idle; they are always at work for the good of those who belong to Him.
The unseen protection of God
One of the greatest truths a believer can embrace is this: God’s protection is constant, even when it is invisible. We tend to measure God’s presence by what we feel or see, but His faithfulness goes far beyond our perception. Just because we do not feel His hand does not mean it is not holding us.
There are moments in life when everything seems uncertain. Trials arise, problems increase, and fear tries to take control of our hearts. In such times, the enemy whispers that God has forgotten us. But this is a lie. The Scriptures consistently remind us that God never abandons His people. His hands remain firm, even when our faith feels weak.
Think about how many times you have been preserved without realizing it. Accidents avoided, illnesses overcome, decisions redirected—these are not random events. They are evidence that God’s hands are actively involved in your life. Even in the darkest moments, His care remains unshaken.
Understanding this truth brings peace. It allows us to rest, knowing that we are not navigating life alone. The same God who created the universe is the One who holds us. His power is unmatched, and His care is personal.
Standing firm in the midst of trials
It is good that before all the trials we are going through, we stand steadfast before God, asking Him to strengthen us and help us remain firm. Trials are not meant to destroy us; they are opportunities for growth, refinement, and deeper dependence on God.
When difficulties come, our natural reaction is often to panic, complain, or seek quick solutions. However, the believer is called to respond differently. We are called to stand firm in faith, trusting that God is working even when we do not understand His plan.
Standing firm does not mean that we will not feel pain or confusion. It means that despite those feelings, we choose to trust God. It means we continue praying, seeking Him, and obeying His Word even when it is difficult.
To stand firm, we must also discard everything that is not pleasing to God. Sin weakens our spiritual life. It clouds our judgment and distances us from the clarity that comes from God’s presence. If we want to remain strong in the midst of trials, we must be willing to let go of anything that hinders our relationship with Him.
God does not leave us alone in this process. He strengthens us. He gives us grace. He equips us with everything we need to endure. Our responsibility is to seek Him and remain faithful.
Drawing near to God daily
Draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to you. Cleanse your hands, ye sinners; and purify your hearts, ye double minded.
James 4:8
In the letter of James, we are urged to draw near to God every day. This is not a one-time action but a continual pursuit. The Christian life is a daily walk with God, not an occasional approach when we are in trouble.
Drawing near to God requires intention. It involves prayer, reading His Word, worship, and a heart that sincerely desires His presence. When we say, “Lord, I am here,” we are opening the door for Him to work in our lives in a deeper way.
The promise is clear: when we draw near to God, He draws near to us. This does not mean that God was absent before, but rather that we begin to experience His presence more clearly. Our spiritual senses become more aware, our hearts more sensitive, and our minds more aligned with His truth.
This closeness with God transforms everything. It changes how we think, how we respond, and how we live. It gives us strength in weakness, peace in chaos, and hope in uncertainty.
The danger of a double-minded heart
People of double mind are those who fluctuate constantly. At one moment they are passionate, committed, and full of faith; at another, they are distant, discouraged, and inconsistent. This instability is one of the greatest dangers in the spiritual life.
A double-minded person lives divided between two worlds. On one side, there is a desire to please God. On the other, there is an attraction to the values and distractions of the world. This inner conflict creates confusion, weakness, and lack of direction.
God calls us to something greater. He calls us to a heart that is fully devoted to Him. This does not mean perfection, but it does mean sincerity. It means that our desire is to follow Him wholeheartedly, even when we fail.
The solution to double-mindedness is not found in human effort alone. It is found in coming to God and asking Him to purify our hearts. Only He can remove the divisions within us and align our desires with His will.
When our hearts are purified, we become more stable. Our faith becomes stronger. Our decisions become clearer. We are no longer easily shaken, because our foundation is rooted in God.
The purification of the heart
When our hearts are purified by God, something powerful happens. We begin to see life differently. The things that once attracted us lose their appeal, and the things of God become more precious.
This purification is not superficial. It is deep and transformative. It reaches our thoughts, our desires, and our motivations. It changes who we are from the inside out.
Through this process, God also helps us remove the bad influences that surround us. Not all influences are beneficial. Some lead us away from God, weaken our faith, and distract us from our purpose. A purified heart is able to discern what is good and what is harmful.
The Holy Spirit plays a central role in this transformation. He convicts us, guides us, and empowers us to live according to God’s will. Without Him, true transformation would be impossible.
As our hearts are purified, we experience freedom. Freedom from sin, from confusion, and from the instability that once defined us. We become people who walk with clarity, purpose, and conviction.
The power of humility before God
Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and he shall lift you up.
James 4:10
Let us not forget that if we live, we live for God. Everything we are and everything we have belongs to Him. Therefore, humility is not optional—it is essential.
Humbling ourselves before God means recognizing our dependence on Him. It means acknowledging that we cannot succeed on our own, that our strength is limited, and that we need His guidance in every aspect of life.
The world often associates humility with weakness, but in God’s kingdom, it is the opposite. Humility is strength. It is the position that allows God to work freely in our lives.
When we humble ourselves, God lifts us up. This lifting is not necessarily material or visible. It is spiritual. He gives us peace, strength, wisdom, and purpose. He elevates our inner life, which is far more valuable than external success.
Those who refuse to humble themselves remain burdened, striving in their own strength and often failing. But those who bow before God find rest, because they are no longer carrying life alone.
The transforming presence of God
When we draw near to God with sincerity, something extraordinary happens within us. His presence begins to transform us. Our character changes, our heart softens, and our perspective becomes clearer.
Many times, life pressures overwhelm us. We feel tired, discouraged, and uncertain. But when we come before God and cry out for His help, His comforting hand lifts us up. He renews our strength and restores our hope.
God never rejects a humble heart. On the contrary, He welcomes it. He responds with love, grace, and restoration. His presence is not distant—it is near, accessible, and powerful.
This transformation is ongoing. It does not happen in a single moment but over time. As we continue to seek God, we continue to grow. We become more like Him in our thoughts, actions, and attitudes.
A life fully surrendered to God
One of the greatest blessings of approaching God is that He removes the divisions within our hearts. A double-minded person struggles between two directions, but a surrendered person walks with clarity.
When we surrender our whole heart to God, He aligns our thoughts, purifies our desires, and strengthens our will. We are no longer pulled in different directions. Instead, we move forward with purpose and confidence.
This surrender is not achieved by our own strength. It is the work of the Holy Spirit within us. He enables us to live in a way that honors God and reflects His character.
Living a surrendered life brings peace. It removes the constant tension of trying to control everything. It allows us to trust God fully, knowing that He is in control.
As we live this way, we begin to experience a deeper relationship with God. We understand His will more clearly, we hear His voice more distinctly, and we walk in greater obedience.
God will never let you go
In the end, we can rest in this powerful truth: God’s hands will never let us go. No matter what we face, no matter how difficult life becomes, His grip on us remains secure.
There will be moments of weakness, times when we feel lost, and seasons when our faith is tested. But even then, God remains faithful. He continues to hold us, guide us, and lift us up.
Our confidence is not in our ability to hold onto God, but in His ability to hold onto us. This is what gives us true security. This is what allows us to move forward without fear.
Let us continue drawing near to Him every day. Let us seek Him with sincerity, humble ourselves before His presence, and trust in His unfailing care. Because the same hands that created the universe are the hands that are holding us—and they will never fail.
