Help me to pray

For many people the word “help me” may be lost within their vocabulary, believing that they are self-sufficient, and is that this faith in ourselves deprives us of one of the most beautiful jewels a Christian can possess: “Humility”. Humility is so beautiful that the Scriptures say: “God looks at the humble up close and the proud up at a distance”. In the flock of the Lord there is no room for the words “I can alone”, we are a body and we shelter one another in the love of the Lord to be able to endure trials and afflictions.

In Christian life, humility is not simply a virtue but a necessary foundation that allows us to walk correctly with God and with our brothers. The inability to say “help me” is often born from pride or from the fear of showing vulnerability. However, the Bible repeatedly teaches us that dependency—both on God and on the community of believers—is part of His design. Walking alone, although it may appear spiritual or strong, ends up weakening the believer, for we were created to live in fellowship and mutual support.

Maybe the isolation is ending with many people of the body of Christ, they prefer to go through the storm alone saying that God is the only one who is by their side, but it is not that so dear brother, it is true that God is our side when we are in trials, but it is also very true that we need our brothers in Christ to be able to endure us. Let’s go a little bit at the beginning, in the book of Genesis, when God created man, the Bible says:

And the Lord God said, It is not good that the man should be alone; I will make him an help meet for him.

Genesis 2:18

Look at something, at that time Adam had God and had a hundred percent communion with God, however, God says: “It is not good for man to be alone”. And it is that beloved brothers, when God speaks of His church, He speaks of a body, where they build one another and we can not isolate ourselves from everyone and believe that we can alone.

This truth also reminds us that emotional, spiritual, and even physical support are part of God’s provision for His children. The community is not an accessory; it is a pillar. Throughout Scripture, we see that the people of God always walked in groups, tribes, and congregations. Isolation was never the plan; fellowship was. And when someone isolated himself, it was often a sign of weakness, pain, or spiritual danger. God, in His infinite wisdom, surrounds His children with people who help shape, strengthen, and encourage them.

A great example of humility is the apostle Paul, he wrote to the Romans:

30 Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me;

31 That I may be delivered from them that do not believe in Judaea; and that my service which I have for Jerusalem may be accepted of the saints;

32 That I may come unto you with joy by the will of God, and may with you be refreshed.

Romans 15:30-32

The apostle did not look at the Romans as very small people to ask them for prayer, nor he did put himself above them, much less isolate himself as to think that he was self-sufficient before all his problems. We must have that same attitude, knowing that God has put brothers in Christ at our side so that they can be with us at any moment of life, and of course, He has left us to His Holy Spirit so that we can overcome any adversity.

Paul’s words also reveal a crucial spiritual truth: even the strongest servants of God recognized their need for the prayers and companionship of others. If Paul asked for help, how could we refuse to do the same? Asking for support is not a sign of weakness but a demonstration of understanding God’s design. The church flourishes when its members carry one another’s burdens and rejoice together in the victories that the Lord grants.

Therefore, beloved, let us not walk alone. Let us break the chains of pride, fear, or isolation that prevent us from receiving the help that God Himself has placed around us. The Christian path was never meant to be traveled in solitude. God is with us, yes, but He has also given us brothers and sisters to lift us up, strengthen us, and remind us of His promises when our strength fades.

May we learn to say “help me” with humility, trusting that in doing so we honor God’s design for His people and allow His love to flow through the community of believers. In unity, in humility, and in mutual support, we reflect the heart of Christ.

The Lord is attentive to your cry
God loves you

  2. Help me to pray
    ==============
    “Now I beseech you, brethren, for the Lord Jesus Christ’s sake, and for the love of the Spirit, that ye strive together with me in your prayers to God for me” Romans 15:30

    When a brother in Christ is going through economic difficulties, other problems or spiritual trials, he acts well if he asks his brothers to pray to the Lord for him.

    We are a body with others in the church. If a part of it suffers all the body feels affliction also, although the chief part is feeling much more.

    When love to brothers exists people ought to be interested always in each other’s difficulties and pray to the Lord for them, and, if it is possible, to help somebody out with his specific problem.

    The apostle Paul writes “ye strive together with me”, be of the same feeling, in a body with me, waiting on the Lord to remedy for my necessity.

    We are called to be members of one only body in the church and the Lord Jesus Christ is the head. Then we ask the head, our Lord, to act in favour of any part of the body which is in problem.

    Really he will be able to help everyone of us. He is very mighty to do it. But we must ask with faith so that the Lord hears our prayer.
