Do not stop

Sometimes we find ourselves in situations where we want to leave everything and abandon even the most precious, but we also have someone at our side who tells us “do not stop, move forward, move forward because I am with you.”

It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:

Psalm 92:1

In the first verse of Psalm 92 the Psalmist David begins to glorify God for His goodness, and he sings the greatness of the Lord with all his heart, expressing how good it is to praise the Lord. David was glorifying and praising God for His glorious mercy.

When we read the Psalms, we find David in each chapter glorifying God. David knew why he manifested this gesture of humiliation before God. David prostrated himself before the Almighty, God never left him alone, He is always there, even when David was in his bad times he called God and God came to help him.

But my horn shalt thou exalt like the horn of an unicorn: I shall be anointed with fresh oil.

Psalm 92:10

This is the example we must use, to practice it every day in our lives, we have to be like this man named David, who in the moment of affliction went before God, prostrated himself and asked the Lord to give him strength like the buffalo, and anoint him with fresh oil.

No matter how many problems we have, let’s not stop, let’s continue with our heads held high, looking to Almighty God, who will deliver and strengthen us, help us in every step, enlighten us and darkness will be far from our foreheads.

Mine eye also shall see my desire on mine enemies, and mine ears shall hear my desire of the wicked that rise up against me.

Psalm 92:11

Remember that God will help us no matter who rises up against us, He will be our sustenance, when we need strength, God will send it.

One of the greatest consolations for the believer is knowing that God not only strengthens us in the day of affliction, but also renews our spirit so that we may continue forward with courage. The fresh oil that David mentions represents that divine renewal that comes directly from the presence of God, a renewal that the world cannot offer and that no human strength can produce. When we feel that our soul is exhausted, our thoughts are overwhelmed, or our heart is discouraged, it is then that the Lord pours new oil upon His children—oil of joy instead of mourning, oil of strength instead of weakness, oil of hope instead of despair. His presence revives what was fading and restores what seemed lost, reminding us that He is the One who sustains our lives.

Furthermore, this psalm teaches us that the righteous do not stand firm because life is easy, but because God Himself establishes them. David had many reasons to collapse under the pressure of persecution, betrayal and battles, yet he always found in God a solid rock where he could rest his soul. And in the same way, every believer today can rest in the promise that God does not abandon His children in the middle of the struggle. He gives clarity when confusion surrounds us, direction when the path seems dark, and peace when storms rise. Though enemies may arise, though circumstances may threaten to break us, the Lord becomes our shield, our refuge and our defender. David could say with confidence that his eyes would see the downfall of those who rose against him, not because of personal revenge, but because God Himself fights for the righteous.

For this reason, let us continue giving thanks to the Lord even in the midst of trials, because praise is the weapon that lifts our spirit and places our eyes where they should be: on the God who never fails. Let us not allow discouragement to silence our worship, nor fear to paralyze our steps. He who strengthened David will strengthen us. He who anointed His servant with fresh oil will also renew us so that we may walk in victory. And He who promised to be with us every day will not abandon us now. Lift your head, beloved of God. The One who called you is faithful, and He will give you strength to continue until the end.

“It is a good thing to give thanks unto the Lord, and to sing praises unto thy name, O Most High:
    Psalm 92:1

Truly it is a necessary thing to not stop doing good, practicing good works and being grateful to the Lord for his goodness, not wearing him out with our words when we ask him spiritual things but we are not actually interested in them, because we prefer to satisfy the lusts of our flesh without separating from the evil.

The Lord likes us being honest people and humble of heart, looking for his glory when we give praise unto his name and give thanks to Him.

Remember the attitude of the publican that prayed to the Lord…
“…. standing afar off, would not lift up so much as his eyes to heaven, but smote on his breast, saying, God be merciful to me a sinner.”
    Luke 18:13
