Ask without hesitation

If we are really Christians, it is because we have believed in Jesus Christ, and this belief implies that we have done it without seeing that person in whom we believe, and this is not a fictitious faith, nor is a faith that hides behind something that does not produces experiences, we experience our faith, in the sense that we ask God and we see His powerful hand at work in our lives and we must ask God to keep this faith and never doubt Him.

Faith is one of the essential pillars in the Christian life, and without it, our walk with God would be empty and without direction. The beauty of true faith is that it is not dependent on physical evidence, emotions of the moment, or what our natural eyes can see. Rather, it is built on the conviction that God is real, that He hears us, and that He acts powerfully on behalf of His children. Every day we have the opportunity to witness His care, His protection, and His provision, and these experiences strengthen our trust in Him. For this reason, we must continually ask God to increase our faith and to help us persevere, even in moments when our circumstances seem contrary to His promises.

James wrote:

5 If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you. 6 But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the

The first thing we must understand is that we have to ask for it under the will of God, since God will not give us anything that is not under His will, nothing that will harm us, God wants the good for us and not the bad, and another thing is that the blessings of God do not add sadness, the blessings of God are enjoyed.

In the second place, we can not go to God doubting, because the one who approaches Him must approach believing that they will find Him and that God will answer them, because the one who touches will be opened, the one who calls will be answered. So it does not matter how difficult it is for you to ask God, it does not matter at the crossroads you are in, it does not matter that the pain is so hard that you feel you can not get up, none of this matters if you trust the powerful hand of our Creator.

Without faith it is impossible to please God and it is necessary that everything we ask is under His will and without hesitation.

This teaches us that doubt is not a small or insignificant detail, but a spiritual obstacle that clouds our vision and prevents us from seeing the greatness of God. When doubt dominates the heart, it produces instability, insecurity, and discouragement, just as James compares the doubter to the waves of the sea, moved by the wind from one place to another. A heart without firm faith becomes vulnerable to fear and confusion, but a heart that trusts in God stands on solid ground, no matter how strong the storm may be.

We must also consider that faith grows through constant communion with God. Prayer, reading Scripture, worship, and obedience strengthen our spirit so we can trust more deeply in His promises. Faith does not grow in an empty space; it flourishes when we walk day by day with the Lord, when we give Him our worries, when we surrender our plans, and when we allow Him to guide each step we take. Even when we do not understand what He is doing, we trust that His will is good, perfect, and pleasing.

There will be moments when God’s silence will test us, when the answers seem delayed, or when doors appear closed. However, these seasons are not signs of abandonment but invitations to trust more profoundly. Many of the greatest testimonies of believers were born in moments where everything seemed impossible but faith remained firm. God honors the faith of those who, despite adversity, continue to believe that He is powerful and faithful to fulfill what He has promised.

Therefore, when we ask God for wisdom, strength, provision, healing, direction, or any other need, we must do so with a heart fully convinced that He listens and acts. But we must also do it with humility, recognizing that His will is superior to ours and that He gives what is best for us—sometimes what we ask for, and other times something far greater than what we imagined.

Let us stand firm in the faith, because a Christian without faith is like a lamp without light. Faith illuminates our walk, sustains us in difficulties, strengthens us in weakness, and connects us with the supernatural help of God. Let us ask Him daily to remove doubt from our hearts, to fill us with assurance, and to help us believe even when circumstances challenge our confidence. God is faithful, and He rewards those who seek Him with sincerity and certainty.

May our prayer always be: “Lord, increase our faith,” so that we may walk confidently, trusting in His promises and depending entirely on His perfect will. With unwavering faith, we will see God do wonders in our lives.

The Nature of Authentic Faith

Authentic faith is not a simple intellectual agreement with a set of religious doctrines. It is a living, breathing connection with the Creator of the universe. When we talk about believing in Jesus Christ without having seen Him, we are touching upon the supernatural essence of the Christian journey. This type of conviction is described in the Scriptures as the “evidence of things not seen.” It provides a spiritual sight that transcends physical limitations, allowing the believer to navigate the complexities of life with a divine perspective.

To understand this better, we must recognize that faith is an active choice. It is not something that happens to us passively; it is a decision to trust in God’s character and His Word regardless of what our physical senses report. In a world that demands “seeing is believing,” the Christian operates on the principle that “believing is seeing.” By placing our trust in Christ, we begin to see the manifestations of His grace and power in ways that the secular world cannot explain. This personal experience transforms faith from a theological concept into a vibrant reality.

Overcoming the Illusion of Fictitious Faith

There is a significant difference between a functional faith and what could be called a fictitious or superficial faith. A fictitious faith is one that only exists in favorable conditions. It is a “fair-weather” belief that disappears at the first sign of trouble. True biblical faith, however, is forged in the fire of trials. It is a faith that produces experiences because it persists through the silence of God. When we pray and do not see an immediate answer, our refusal to doubt is what qualifies our faith as genuine. It proves that we are not following God for what He gives us, but for who He is.

Developing a faith that produces real spiritual experiences requires spiritual discipline and consistency. We cannot expect to have a powerful, unwavering trust in God if we only seek Him in emergencies. Like a muscle that must be trained, faith grows through daily exercises of reliance. Small acts of obedience and small moments of trust build the foundation for the great victories we desire. When we see His “powerful hand at work,” it is often the culmination of many small steps of faith taken in the secret place of prayer and devotion.

The Power of Asking Without Doubting

The instruction from the Apostle James is clear and uncompromising: when we ask, we must do so without doubting. This is often easier said than done, as the human mind is prone to analyzing risks and contemplating failure. However, the spiritual logic of the Kingdom operates differently. Doubt is viewed as a destabilizing force that prevents us from receiving the fullness of what God has prepared. When we approach the throne of grace with a divided heart, we are essentially saying that we aren’t sure if God is willing or able to fulfill His promises.

To eliminate doubt, we must anchor our requests in the infallible nature of God. Doubt usually stems from focusing on our own inadequacies or the magnitude of our problems. If we look at the mountain, we will tremble; if we look at the Mountain-Maker, we will have peace. Asking without doubting means making a conscious effort to fix our gaze on the sovereignty of God. It involves reminding ourselves of His past faithfulness—both in the Scriptures and in our own personal history. Every answered prayer in the past serves as a legal precedent for God’s willingness to act again today.

Stability in the Midst of Life’s Storms

James uses a powerful metaphor to describe the doubter: a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. This image perfectly captures the emotional and spiritual instability that comes from a lack of firm faith. Without a solid anchor in God’s Word, we are at the mercy of every changing circumstance. If things go well, we feel close to God; if things go poorly, we feel abandoned. This “rollercoaster Christianity” is exhausting and ineffective. God desires for His children to be stable, immovable, and always abounding in His work.

A heart that trusts God is rooted in spiritual reality rather than shifting emotions. Stability comes from knowing that God’s promises are not “yes” today and “no” tomorrow, but “yes” and “amen” in Christ. When the storms of life hit—whether they be financial crises, health issues, or relational conflicts—the believer with unwavering faith is not moved. They may feel the wind and hear the thunder, but their internal foundation remains intact because it is built upon the Rock of Ages. This stability is a testimony to the world of the peace that surpasses all understanding.

Aligning Our Desires with the Divine Will

A critical component of effective prayer and faith is alignment with the will of God. Many people become disillusioned with faith because they treat God like a cosmic vending machine, expecting Him to provide whatever they desire without considering His higher purposes. However, true faith understands that God’s wisdom is infinite. Asking within His will is not a limitation on our happiness; it is a protection for our souls. God, in His immense love, often denies our requests for things that would ultimately hinder our spiritual growth or lead us away from His presence.

The blessings of God are characterized by peace. As the text mentions, His blessings do not add sadness. If we are pursuing something that brings constant anxiety, confusion, or compromise, we must evaluate if that pursuit is truly aligned with His will. When we are in the center of God’s plan, there is a supernatural joy that accompanies His provision. Even if the journey is difficult, the internal assurance that we are walking where He led us provides a deep sense of satisfaction. We must learn to pray, “Thy will be done,” not as a statement of resignation, but as a declaration of trust in His perfect goodness.

God’s Goodness as the Foundation of Petition

We must settle the issue of God’s character in our hearts once and for all. God is fundamentally good. He is a Father who knows how to give good gifts to His children. This theological truth is the engine of our prayer life. If we secretly believe that God is stingy, angry, or indifferent, our prayers will be weak and filled with hesitation. But if we see Him as a generous Giver who “gives to all without finding fault,” our approach changes entirely. We come boldly to the throne of grace, knowing that our Father delights in answering the cries of His children.

Understanding God’s goodness also helps us process the “wait” or the “no.” Because He is good, His timing is perfect. Because He is good, His “no” is an act of mercy. Faith trusts the heart of God even when it cannot trace the hand of God. This level of trust allows us to enjoy the process of waiting, knowing that while we are waiting, God is working. He is preparing the blessing for us and preparing us for the blessing. This perspective removes the bitterness that often accompanies unanswered petitions and replaces it with a restful confidence.

The Role of Perseverance in the Life of the Believer

Perseverance is the partner of faith. It is the quality that allows us to remain standing when the answer is not immediate. Many believers give up just before the breakthrough because they confuse a delay with a denial. However, the Bible is full of examples of men and women who had to wait years for the fulfillment of God’s promises. Abraham, Joseph, and David all understood that faith requires endurance. Perseverance proves the depth of our commitment and refines our character, making us more like Christ in the process.

Practical Ways to Increase Spiritual Confidence

Increasing our faith is a practical endeavor that involves the consistent application of spiritual disciplines. The most fundamental way to increase faith is through the immersion in the Word of God. The Scriptures state that “faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.” When we fill our minds with the accounts of God’s power and His promises, our spiritual capacity expands. The Word acts as a shield against the fiery darts of doubt that the world constantly throws our way. It provides the vocabulary for our prayers and the logic for our trust.

Another practical step is intentional community and testimony. Hearing how God has moved in the lives of other believers can ignite a spark of faith in our own hearts. When we share our experiences of God’s “powerful hand at work,” we are not just reminiscing; we are building a corporate atmosphere of belief. This is why fellowship is so vital. Surrounded by people of faith, our own doubts find less room to grow. We encourage one another, bear one another’s burdens, and remind each other of the greatness of our God when circumstances become overwhelming.

The Necessity of Constant Prayer

Prayer is the breath of the Christian soul. It is the primary means by which we express our dependence on God. A robust prayer life is a sign of a robust faith. Through prayer, we don’t just ask for things; we align our hearts with God’s heart. It is in the place of prayer that doubt is defeated and peace is restored. We must make it a habit to bring everything—both the monumental and the mundane—before the Lord. By involving God in every detail of our lives, we cultivate a constant awareness of His presence, which is the ultimate antidote to fear and hesitation.

Furthermore, prayer should be accompanied by thanksgiving. Even before we see the physical manifestation of our request, we can thank God for being a God who hears and answers. Thanksgiving is faith in action. it declares that we trust God so much that we are willing to praise Him in advance. This shifts our focus from the problem to the Provider. A heart of gratitude is rarely a heart of doubt. As we count our blessings, we find that our confidence in God’s future provision grows naturally and supernaturally.

Trusting God in the Crossroads of Life

Life often brings us to crossroads where the path forward is unclear and the stakes are high. These are the moments where unwavering faith is most tested and most necessary. Whether it is a career decision, a family crisis, or a spiritual transition, the “powerful hand of our Creator” is available to guide us. Trusting God at a crossroad means surrendering our need for total control and acknowledging that His ways are higher than our ways. It is the peace of knowing that if we commit our way to Him, He will bring it to pass.

Conclusion: Walking as Children of Light

In conclusion, living a life of faith is the highest calling of the Christian believer. It is a journey that starts with believing in the unseen Christ and continues through a daily walk of trust and obedience. We must guard our hearts against the corrosive influence of doubt, recognizing it as a thief that tries to steal our peace and our spiritual inheritance. By remaining anchored in the Word, dedicated to prayer, and aligned with the will of God, we ensure that our faith remains a bright, illuminating light in a dark world.

Let us never forget that without faith it is impossible to please God. This is not a heavy burden, but a glorious invitation to experience the supernatural. As we ask God to increase our faith, we are asking Him to increase our capacity to see His glory and to participate in His divine work on earth. With a heart full of certainty and a spirit free from hesitation, we can face any challenge, overcome any obstacle, and witness the incredible wonders that God performs for those who dare to believe Him. May we walk today and every day with the firm conviction that our God is able, our God is willing, and our God is faithful.

The legacy of a believer is ultimately measured by the quality of their trust in the Lord. When we look back at the end of our journey, the moments that will matter most are those where we chose to believe despite the pain, where we chose to stand despite the storm, and where we chose to ask despite the doubt. This is the faith that changes lives, transforms families, and impacts eternity. Let us be a people known for our unwavering confidence in the Creator, moving forward with the assurance that His powerful hand is always guiding us toward His perfect and glorious purpose.

Finally, let us embrace the transformative power of the Holy Spirit to sustain this faith within us. We do not have to generate this trust on our own strength. The same Spirit that raised Christ from the dead lives in us, providing the supernatural grace to believe when human logic fails. By yielding to His influence, we find that “believing without seeing” becomes a source of profound joy and unbreakable strength. Our lives then become a living testimony to the world that God is not only real but is also the rewarder of those who diligently seek Him with all their heart.

  1. ASK WITHOUT HESITATION

But when you ask, you must believe and not doubt, because the one who doubts is like a wave of the sea, blown and tossed by the wind. (James 1:6)

I believe the Holy Spirit guides us to understand God’s Word, but sometimes it seem as if our reading was fruitless, I am absent-minded and I find this is due to the fact I have not prayed to the Lord asking fervently he may help me to have fellowship with him.

On some occasions my mind is heavy with this world’s things, I feel worried about family problems or I am overexcited about something I’ve got, as tells Luke 14:19
“And another said, I have bought five yoke of oxen, and I go to prove them:… “

I think that when we have our daily reading of Scripture it is necessary to try hard to look for the Lord, so we must pray to the Lord before expecting him to work in us.

When we are going through a trial, it is the best occasion to look closer to the Lord. Someone would say it’s easy for one to speak about these matters if you are not passing through a test. Well, that may be, but I can say that some time ago I was desperate and suffering in my trouble until the Lord Jesus made me humble myself, I prayed to him fervently several times, everywhere. His answer did not delay. I could see clearly and received comfort in my soul; afterwards, I accepted what the Lord had decided for me.

In trouble, it is good for us pray fervently to the Lord believing he listens to us in our needs… and be grateful.
“Now to him that is able to do exceeding abundantly above ALL THAT WE ASK OR THINK
according to the power that works in us, TO HIM BE GLORY IN THE CHURCH BY CHRIST JESUS throughout all ages, world without end. Amen.” (Ephesians 3:20-21)

    1. I really needed what you wrote. I have been going through one season after another trials and temptation. Have a blessed day.
