Who among us has not gone through any difficult time in life, for those moments where you might not want to continue living, when we feel that all the difficult things fall on us, moments in which even many have thought to turn away from God. But turning away from God will never be the solution, for which it is good that we keep the same words of the psalmist: “We will not turn away from you”.
The psalmist Asaph said:
17 Let your hand rest on the man at your right hand, the son of man you have raised up for yourself.
18 Then we will not turn away from you; revive us, and we will call on your name.
19 Restore us, Lord God Almighty; make your face shine on us, that we may be saved.
Psalm 80:17-19
We should never think that we have enough strength to fight alone, we should never think that we are strong and that we should not bother God for our problems, God will always be ready to listen to us and help us in those difficult times. Remember that the Bible teaches us that God looks at the humble up close and the haughty at a distance and one of the bases to be humble is to understand the need for God in each moment.
The Bible says:
23 This is what the Lord says:
“Let not the wise boast of their wisdom
or the strong boast of their strength
or the rich boast of their riches,
Jeremiah 9:23
We should never think that we are strong enough to fight alone. Without God we are nothing and if we are standing or we drink a glass of water it is because of the great mercy of God, otherwise we could not even walk.
The psalmist says that if the hand of God was with them, they would never turn away from God. Let us pray to God that His hand will never turn away from us, since it is the only way we can stand firm in this fallen world.
