The infinite understanding of God

Blessed be the Lord for His infinite understanding, and for His mercy that persecutes us each day in a special way, the strong and wonderful God who has always defended His people Israel from all their adversaries. His compassion does not fail, His kindness does not diminish, and His faithfulness does not change. Each morning we awaken under the shelter of His mercy, and each night we rest because His hand sustains us. The God who acted with power on behalf of Israel is the same God who watches over us today.

His power is so great that He helps us in every moment of weakness and makes us feel safe. More than that, God gives us the strength to keep advancing. The valley of shadow will not stop us, nor will the darkness give us fear because He will always be with us. His presence brings courage, His voice brings peace, and His promises bring hope. When we feel unable to continue, He lifts us up and reminds us that His grace is sufficient for every battle.

The Lord builds up Jerusalem;
he gathers the exiles of Israel.

Psalm 147:2

It is good to say that God was always at the head of His people and that He restored them and gave them victory when they went to war. God was their strength, their shield, and their defender. But something that the Lord had was that when the people disobeyed the command of God, immediately came the consequences of their disobedience. God is merciful, but He is also just. His discipline is not cruelty; it is love correcting His children so that they return to His ways.

Remember that, although God is merciful, the people sometimes thought they could play with God, but later came the judgment of God, and it consumed the disobedient. The history of Israel teaches us that God desires obedience, humility, and genuine repentance. When they turned their backs on Him, they faced sorrow; when they sought Him, they found restoration. This same pattern applies to us today—God blesses obedience and calls us away from paths that destroy us.

He heals the brokenhearted
and binds up their wounds.

Psalm 147:3

The sovereign God—majestic, merciful, fearful, compassionate, good, admirable, kind—helps us every day and supports us every day. He is a God who heals our wounds and who does not respect persons. No matter who is hurting, God sees their pain. No matter who is crying, God hears their voice. No matter who is weary, God offers rest. His comfort reaches the places human hands cannot touch, and His healing restores even the wounds that time cannot mend.

No matter what person has pain, God heals them. He restores and provides them with food for their needs. A compassionate and merciful God is always willing to help us, no matter what we give Him. His care is not based on our merit, but on His nature. He gives strength to the weak, hope to the discouraged, and purpose to the lost. He embraces the wounded and raises the fallen. Truly, His love is unlike any other.

He determines the number of the stars
and calls them each by name.

Psalm 147:4

A great and wonderful God who counts the number of stars and who calls all of them by their names. This is the Creator God of all that exists—galaxies, oceans, mountains, and every living creature—and they are still under His gaze and in His hands. If He knows the stars one by one, how much more does He know us? If He sustains the universe, how much more will He sustain His children?

Great is our Lord and mighty in power;
his understanding has no limit.

Psalm 147:5

The psalmist David speaks so sure of the power of God because he saw all the miracles He did. David contemplated the greatness of the Lord and pronounced His deeds; he rejoiced in the beauty and creation made by His hands. David’s faith grew each time he remembered God’s works—how He saved, protected, directed, and restored His people. When we meditate on the same truths, our faith is strengthened too.

It is good that every day we recognize the greatness of God and that we give glory and honor to the One who did it all—God strong and great, who covers us with power and frees us from every evil of our adversary. God strengthens us and restores our whole being. In trials, He is our refuge; in weakness, He is our strength; in confusion, He is our clarity. May we never forget His wonders, and may our hearts continually bless His holy name.

Do not fear, for I am with you
God, the greatest
