The greatness of God

The greatness of our God is something we see from the beginning of creation, that is, when God created the heavens and the earth.

The book of Genesis shows the first event that occurred on that day: organizing the earth.

2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.

3 And God said, “Let there be light,” and there was light.

Genesis 1:2-3

The Bible tells us that after the act of creation, the earth was not in order, and also covered by darkness. Then God begins to declare all the things He saw that were needed on earth. We notice, from the very first lines of Scripture, that God does not create in disorder but brings form, beauty, and purpose to everything He touches. Darkness cannot remain where the voice of God is heard. His command is enough to bring light, order, and clarity to what was once empty and formless.

In verse 3 of the first chapter of Genesis, God creates the light. When we talk about darkness, it is because everything was covered, nothing was visible, and no life could flourish. That is why God created the light, and it was so. The moment God spoke, light broke through and darkness had to move aside. This shows us that darkness never has the final word when God acts. His light always prevails.

The greatness of God is visible in everything, not only in creating the heavens and the earth but also in the way He sustains everything with His power. From the vast oceans to the smallest seed, from the highest mountains to the invisible wind, everything exists because He willed it. The universe, with all its order and immensity, is a constant testimony of the intelligence and majesty of our Creator.

The Bible is full of many works that the Lord did. The creation of man is a marvelous example. God formed human beings with His hands and breathed life into them. We are not accidents of nature; we are the result of divine intention. The animals, the stars, the moon, the sun, and everything that exists was created by the Almighty God, the Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end. His fingerprints are everywhere, and His glory is reflected in every part of creation.

And we can mention one of the greatest wonders of God, which was to deliver His only Son to die for our sins. While creation shows His power, the cross shows His heart. In creation we see His majesty; in redemption we see His love. The God who said “Let there be light” is the same God who said “Let there be salvation,” and He accomplished this through Jesus Christ.

Can we reject someone who gave His life out of love for us? Can we ignore such a profound demonstration of mercy? God is good to each one of us. In spite of the faults we have, He is faithful and forgives us. He does not abandon us or treat us according to our failures. Instead, He extends grace, patience, and compassion. The same God who created the universe with His power restores hearts with His kindness.

God does not reject us. Even the heavens tell of His glory and the firmament announces His works. Every sunrise declares His faithfulness; every star whispers His greatness. Nature is a constant reminder that the One who made all things is the same One who watches over us.

Glorify the One who can save you—the Almighty God. If His voice brought order to creation, imagine what His voice can do in your life. If He turned darkness into light at the beginning of the world, He can turn your darkness into hope. If He gave His Son for you, there is nothing good He will withhold from your soul.

Let us acknowledge His greatness daily. Let us contemplate His works with reverence. And above all, let us respond to His love with gratitude, obedience, and worship, for there is no one like Him in all the earth or in all the heavens.
