David implores direction, forgiveness and protection

When we want something we must ask God for direction, and if it is His will we will receive it, but if it is not His will we will not receive it, because sometimes there are things that do not suit us.

David knew that God was the only one who could protect him from everything around him and that could help him. That’s why David in his difficult moments humbled himself and asked God for protection because there were many enemies.

This man was humble of heart, he was always attentive and humiliated before God, he prostrated himself before God and asked for forgiveness for any failure or error that he committed.

Some Biblical verses mention that this man was very patient, and why was David very patient? If we read the history we see that the psalmist was first a shepherd of sheep, and that office is to have patience, because the sheep are always scattered, some are on one side and others on the other side, then at the moment the pastor has to leave he shlould to find all his sheep.

1 In you, Lord my God,
I put my trust.

2 I trust in you;
do not let me be put to shame,
nor let my enemies triumph over me.
3 No one who hopes in you
will ever be put to shame,
but shame will come on those
who are treacherous without cause.

Psalm 25:1-3

David was in critical moments but he never stopped saying “Lord, I put my trust in You”, he always asked God. He never failed to mention the one who held him all the time, that if a lion or a giant came he would help him, and Almighty God was with him all the time.

It is good that we know that everyone who follows our Lord Almighty will always be safe under His wings, just as the paslmist psalmist David was that God was wherever David was, there was the Lord to take care of him and protect him from his enemies.

And for that is why God showed him the way and taught him his paths and took care of his enemies.

Show me your ways, Lord,
teach me your paths.

Psalm 25:4

Only God can take care of all adversity that may could come to our lives, because God is our helper, trust Him all the time.

1 God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present help in trouble.

2 Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,

3 though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.[c]

Psalm 46:1-3

When we observe David’s life, we realize that his trust in God was not something superficial or momentary; it was a deep conviction formed through years of walking with the Lord. From his youth, David experienced moments in which he had to depend completely on God, such as when he confronted lions and bears while tending the flock. Those early experiences became the foundation of an unshakable faith, one that would later sustain him when facing giants, armies, betrayals, and seasons of loneliness.

In the same way, our spiritual walk is also strengthened through the situations God allows us to live. Many times we do not understand why certain doors close or why certain desires are not granted, but just as God guided David step by step, He also guides us with perfect wisdom. What we perceive as delays or denials are often acts of protection and love from a Father who sees much further than we do.

It is important to highlight that David did not rely on his own strength or abilities, even though he was a brave warrior. His confidence rested solely in God, and this teaches us that no matter how capable or prepared we think we are, dependence on the Lord is what truly gives us victory. When David prayed, he did so with sincerity, recognizing his weaknesses and asking God to show him the right path. This attitude of humility is essential if we want to receive direction from God in our decisions.

Just as David asked God to teach him His ways, we must also approach the Lord daily with a willing heart. God desires to guide us, but He also asks that we seek Him with sincerity, leaving aside pride, haste, and fear. When we trust fully in Him, we learn that His plans are always better than our own.

Therefore, let us hold firmly to God’s promises, remembering that He is our refuge and strength. Even when the storms of life shake everything around us, the Lord remains faithful. His presence surrounds us, sustains us, and gives us peace. Like David, let us say with confidence: “In You, Lord my God, I put my trust.”
