You have made me glad with Your works, Lord

We rejoice in the works accomplished by the hands of the Lord, because everything He does flows from His infinite wisdom, His unchanging goodness, and His sovereign power. These are not ordinary works, nor are they small gestures. They are manifestations of God’s character, extended toward us to rescue, sustain, and guide us in every moment of affliction. That is why the psalmist speaks with such deep conviction in the verse we will reflect on in this article. When we pause to consider the mighty acts of God, our hearts cannot help but overflow with gratitude and joy.

There are many in the world who complain, who murmur, and who fail to recognize the countless blessings that come from the Lord. Yet even in the midst of such ingratitude, God continues to perform mighty works—works that many have seen with their own eyes and even touched with their own hands. The psalmist declared with confidence, “I rejoice in Your works, O Lord,” and these words are not mere poetic expression. They reflect an understanding that what God does is far superior to anything men are capable of producing. Human strength is limited, but God’s power is without end; human efforts fade, but the works of the Lord remain firm and glorious.

In the verse that follows, we encounter a profound truth: our joy does not come from the works we accomplish, but from the works manifested by our God. We may strive to do good, we may labor diligently, and we may even accomplish things of value, but none of these compare to the mighty acts of the Lord. His works are perfect, eternal, and transformative. They have the power to change hearts, rescue sinners, and reveal His glory to the nations.

For thou, Lord, hast made me glad through thy work: I will triumph in the works of thy hands. Psalm 92:4

We are all blessed by our God, and if our hearts overflow with joy, it is because the Lord Himself has poured out His mercy upon us. With His works—whether through His creation, His providence, or His salvation—He has given us a joy that flows like a river within us. This joy is not temporary, nor does it depend on circumstances. It is rooted in what God has done and continues to do. Let us praise our Savior because His works are wonderful, marvelous, and worthy of all worship.

When we look at our own lives, we can repeat the same words spoken by the psalmist: “I rejoice in Your works.” Why? Because when we behold these powerful works—from the smallest blessing to the greatest act of redemption—we recognize that we are truly blessed. Our joy does not come from our own achievements, possessions, or abilities. It comes from the Lord, who fills our hearts with gladness through what He does. His works remind us of His faithfulness, His compassion, and His unending love.

Brothers and sisters, let us always remain joyful because of His powerful works—works done by His mighty hands. Through these works, the Lord has saved countless souls, strengthened the weak, restored the brokenhearted, and provided for His people in ways beyond comprehension. Every breath, every answered prayer, every act of protection, every moment of peace, every demonstration of grace is one more reason to rejoice before our God. Let us give thanks continually, acknowledging that without the works of the Lord, we would have no hope, no strength, and no salvation.

Therefore, let us approach each day with grateful hearts, remembering that the joy we have comes directly from the hands of our Creator. Let us celebrate His works, testify of them, and proclaim His greatness. For the Lord has made us glad through His works, and in the works of His hands we will triumph forever.

In stillness and in confidence will be your strength
The posterity of the wicked will be extinguished
