The only word of life

There are many words, many books, many texts, which cause us great inspiration when we read them, but the Bible, unlike the millions of books that have been written throughout the entire existence of humanity, is the only one that has words of eternal life. It is the only book that can transform the lives of thousands of people, and that can make you tremble and feel that you need to change urgently.

In case you did not know, the Bible has been translated into more than 2,454 languages, which means that it is the most translated book in the whole world. And not only that—year after year it remains the best-selling book of all time. No other writing has crossed as many borders, cultures, and generations as the Bible. Do not forget that this has been a book that men have tried to eliminate for centuries; emperors, kings, atheistic regimes, philosophers and enemies of the faith have risen against it. Yet they have all failed. And the question is: Why? Because it is the word of eternal life. Human hands can burn paper, governments can prohibit its distribution, and societies can mock it, but the eternal can never be eliminated.

Throughout history, the Bible has survived persecutions, wars, censorship, and even attempts within the church to silence its message. Still, it remains standing, powerful, unbreakable, and more influential than any other book ever written. When a person reads Scripture with an open heart, something unique happens: conviction, hope, transformation, and spiritual awakening. Words printed on pages become life, strength, and truth to the soul.

In the Bible we find a very strong message from Jesus. In chapter 6 of the book of John we see that many of the disciples, after hearing some of Jesus’ teachings, said: “This word is hard; who can hear it?” (John 6:60). They recognized that following Christ was not a matter of comfort, but of surrender. His words confronted them, exposed their hearts, and demanded genuine commitment. Many were willing to walk with Jesus as long as His words pleased them, but when truth pierced their desires, they walked away.

However, even though these words were harsh to some, there was one disciple who understood the eternal value hidden in them. In that moment, Jesus asked the Twelve whether they also wanted to leave, and then Peter spoke words that have echoed throughout the centuries:

67 “You do not want to leave too, do you?” Jesus asked the Twelve.

68 Simon Peter answered him, “Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.

John 6:67-68

Peter solved the enigma. He realized that only Jesus had words of eternal life. He understood that Christ’s words were superior to every philosophy, every doctrine, every human opinion. Where else could he go? No teacher, no book, no leader had what Jesus had: eternal truth, eternal wisdom, eternal hope.

Today we live in an era full of voices. Politicians promise change. Influencers offer motivation. Authors publish ideas that seem revolutionary. Thousands of speeches surround us, and many of them sound convincing. But in the end, they fade away. Their promises are temporary, their influence is limited, and their truth is fragile. But the words of Jesus remain unshakable. His promises never fail, His message never loses power, and His truth never becomes outdated. This is why millions continue to trust the Bible as the safest foundation for life.

You can trust it fully. If you are confused, it gives you light. If you face a difficult test, it strengthens you. If you fall into sin, it confronts you and restores you. If you feel lost, it guides your steps. The Bible comforts, corrects, teaches, and transforms. It is more than a book—it is the very breath of God communicated to humanity.

It is such a complete book! It is a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. It exposes the intentions of our heart and at the same time brings healing. It gives hope to the hopeless, strength to the weak, and purpose to the wandering soul. Every page and every verse has the power to awaken the spirit and point us toward Christ, the Author of eternal salvation.

Dear reader, we must always keep this in mind: The Bible is the only text that possesses words of eternal life. Everything else passes away, but the Word of the Lord endures forever. Let us cherish it, read it, meditate on it, and treasure it in our hearts. For in its pages we find not only information, but transformation; not only stories, but salvation; not only commands, but life itself.

What would be of us if we had not known the Bible?
The Bible is very important in our lives. It gives us the knowledge we need to know God, and to know the “only word of life.”
In fact, the Bible contains not only one word but many words, which teach us about His Will, the will of God. They are “the words of eternal life”, as Peter said, speaking to Jesus:
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

But, more specifically, what does the Minister say, and what does he mean by “the only Word of life”?
The term “word”, in greek or aramaic language also means “verb” (the verb of God). The gospel of John (1:1) tells us:
“In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.”

And in John 1:11-12 we read:
“He came to his own, and his own received him not.
But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name”

So the “only Word of Life” is the only beloved Son of God: Jesus Christ. Indeed, it’s no one else but the Lord Jesus Christ, who gave himself up for all who believe in Him, in his name.

Now, the question is: how do we respond to that “Word”? Jesus said to his disciples:
“You do not want to leave too, do you?”

On that occasion, the disciples answered Jesus:
“Lord, to whom shall we go?”
    (John 6:67-68)

Similarly, all God’s people—all of us that have been saved by Him and became adopted children of God—need to respond to His question:
“You do not want to leave too, do you?”

And we also, people of God, blessed by Jesus, join our voices to Simon Peter’s, and answer Him:
“Lord, to whom shall we go? You have the words of eternal life.”

At the end of my words today, I say also with the Minister of this page:
“Dear reader, we must always keep this in mind: The Bible is the only text that possesses words of eternal life.”

The only eternal Word of life is Jesus, the beloved Son of God.
So let’s go to Him: he has Words of eternal Life
