Cursed is the man who trusts in man

In chapter 17 of the book of Jeremiah we see the sin of the people in the presence of God, and the consequences they will suffer for going after idols instead of God.

Starting in verse one, the Lord begins by speaking of the sin of idolatry of the people of Israel and later on speaks of what this people will go through for having turned away from the Lord, turning their hearts away to worship images that can do nothing for them.

That is why the Lord clearly tells us that our trust must be in Him, because the one who strays and all his followers are clearly cursed for not believing in the Lord and for turning away their trust from Him.

We are to be blameless people, led by God, worshiping only Him, and not going after gods of stone, wood, and paper.

Thus saith the Lord; Cursed be the man that trusteth in man, and maketh flesh his arm, and whose heart departeth from the Lord.

Jeremiah 17:5

Judgment will fall on everyone who, knowing the living and powerful God, places his trust in paintings and sculptures made by man’s hands. That is why as God’s people, we must listen and obey the words of the Lord.

Let’s believe in God, let’s not let people who are not under the Lord’s teachings guide us, because we will be dragged by the Lord’s judgment for trusting men with hearts far from God.
