We must all put our eyes on Jesus, we must trust only in Him since without Him we are nothing. From Christ comes our salvation.
Jesus is the author and finisher of our faith, the one who helps us to move forward. He makes our faith bigger and bigger, because from Him comes our strength.
In no one else can we trust, only in the Lord because only He can answer us and that is why we should not trust man, nor focus on them. Our eyes must always be on the Lord.
In Hebrews we find a very important passage, which tells us about faith in the Lord, and in whom we should set our sights.
1 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us,
2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God.
Hebrews 12:1-2
We can say that here it speaks clearly to us that we should shed all that God does not like, urges us to be focused on following the One who died for us on the cross of Calvary.
We have to value this sacrifice of our beloved Jesus to set us free, so that we continue on His paths of peace and joy.
Putting our eyes on Jesus is not just a beautiful phrase, it is a daily decision that requires discipline, humility, and perseverance. Many times, distractions arise in our lives that try to divert our attention from what truly matters. Problems, disappointments, fears, and even people can become obstacles that slowly pull our focus away from Christ. When this happens, our faith weakens, and we begin to feel discouraged and unstable.
The passage in Hebrews reminds us that the Christian life is like a race. It is not a short sprint, but a long journey that requires patience and endurance. To run this race well, we must lay aside every weight and sin that entangles us. These weights may not always be obvious sins; sometimes they are attitudes, habits, or concerns that slowly steal our spiritual strength. Only when we fix our eyes on Jesus can we continue moving forward without losing direction.
Jesus endured the cross, not because it was easy, but because He saw the joy that was set before Him. That joy was our salvation, our reconciliation with the Father, and the hope of eternal life. His example teaches us that suffering is not the end, and that obedience to God always produces fruit. When we remember what Christ endured for us, our trials take on a new perspective.
Trusting in Jesus also means understanding that human strength is limited. People can fail us, circumstances can change, and our own understanding can lead us astray. That is why Scripture constantly calls us to place our confidence in the Lord and not in ourselves. When our eyes are on Him, we receive wisdom, guidance, and peace, even in the midst of uncertainty.
Let us then examine our hearts and ask ourselves where our focus truly is. Are we looking to Jesus daily, or have we allowed other things to take His place? When we return our gaze to Christ, our faith is renewed, our hope is restored, and our walk with God becomes firm and joyful. May we always run this race with our eyes fixed on Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith.
