Strengthen me according to Your Word Lord

When we are in full need, we must turn to our God, since He is the One who can help us, can lift us, and can give us new strength.

Human beings tend to seek refuge in many places when difficulties arise. Some look for help in friends, others in money, others in entertainment, and some simply choose to remain silent and carry their own burdens. Yet, none of these things can provide the deep help, consolation, and restoration that only God can give. This is why the Scriptures constantly invite us to turn our eyes to the Lord—because He alone is our true refuge.

Let us put all our trust in the One who loved us before the creation of the world. He is God, eternal and sovereign, and only He can set us free and save our lives. He is the One who gives us encouragement when our strength fails, the One who uplifts us when our spirit is crushed. The name of the Lord is above every name, and in that glorious name we find the power to continue forward.

For that reason, it is good and necessary that every day we turn to Him with continuous and sincere prayer. God is kind, patient, and good, and His mercy rests upon us day after day, even when we do not deserve it. Prayer is the channel through which our soul finds rest and renewed hope, because by praying we place our burdens in the hands of the One who truly knows how to carry them.

My soul melteth for heaviness: strengthen thou me according unto thy word.

Psalm 119:28

This verse is a cry that perfectly describes the condition of many hearts. There are seasons in life when the soul melts because of heaviness—moments when sadness seems overwhelming, when the burden becomes unbearable, and when despair knocks strongly at the door. Yet, in the midst of all of this, the psalmist teaches us the right response: “strengthen thou me according unto thy word.”

Even being His Words before us, we can say that they support us and show us everything we need to move forward. The Word of God is not an ordinary book; it is the very breath of God written for our instruction, comfort, and hope. Through it, God speaks to us, corrects us, sustains us, and lifts us when we feel faint.

It is good to seek Him not only for what He does for us or for His wonders, but simply because of who He is—good, merciful, faithful, and loving. He has loved us even while we were evil. He cares for us when we do not care for ourselves. He restores us when we fall, frees us from captivity, and gives us identity and purpose. He has placed His Words before us so that day by day we know that in Him we are more than conquerors.

By studying His Word we can realize that He dwells in it, because every verse was inspired by Him through the Holy Spirit to His chosen servants. When we feel weak, discouraged, or confused, His Word becomes a lamp to our feet and a light to our path. It teaches us to trust, to endure, and to hope.

Before running to the arms of a person to seek refuge, go to God first. People may fail, misunderstand, or even abandon us, but God never does. He always has the best Word for us—words of life, comfort, wisdom, and renewal. Do not put your trust in man, because only God can strengthen you in critical moments of need.

When your strength ends, God begins. When you feel like falling, He sustains you. When you say “I can’t anymore,” God says: “I lift you up and give you new strength to continue forward, just trust Me.”
