Do things with humility

The Bible teaches us that God looks at the proud from afar, but from the humble from near (Psalm 138:6). Therefore, if we are truly Christians or children of God we must be humble in every sense of the word.

The apostle Paul wrote to the Philippians:

1 If there be therefore any consolation in Christ, if any comfort of love, if any fellowship of the Spirit, if any bowels and mercies,

2 Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind.

3 Let nothing be done through strife or vainglory; but in lowliness of mind let each esteem other better than themselves.

4 Look not every man on his own things, but every man also on the things of others.

Philippians 2:1-4

Paul begins this chapter by saying “Therefore,” which means that it is a follow-up to the previous chapter, in which Paul wrote:

15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:

16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:

Philippians 1:15-16

Which means that within the church of the Philippians, a series of things were happening for which the apostle had to rebuke them. For this reason, confident that not everything was lost within the church of Christ with the attitude of some, as he himself describes, that some preach Christ for envy and contention, yet he was certain that something spiritual could remain there, he asks: “Fulfil ye my joy, that ye be likeminded, having the same love, being of one accord, of one mind”.

Can you imagine how difficult a leader’s life is, the concerns they have to suffer, many times the discouragement and behavior of some brothers within the church, to the point that sometimes they have to beg that we please live unanimously and no strife ?.

We are the body of Christ and we must watch over each other, not looking for our own, but interested in our brothers in the faith, not trying to be haughty, but clothed in all humility, because this is pleasing to the Lord.
