Not by might, nor by power

Are you fighting a very strong battle? Do you think that everything ends here and that your strength is no longer enough? Many times the pressures of life, the unexpected crises, and the burdens that seem too heavy make us believe that we have reached the end. But the good news we have today for you is that we serve a God who is an expert in giving great victories to His servants. He has never lost a battle, He has never been defeated, and He never abandons those who trust in Him. Our part is to rest in His hands, to breathe deeply, and to wait for the right moment when He will lift us up and give us victory in the middle of the crisis.

I have always said that studying the Bible is a very important part of the believer’s spiritual life, because through the study of the Scriptures our faith is strengthened. When we read about the great victories God gave His people in moments when everything seemed lost, our hearts find hope. Those stories remind us that God specializes in the impossible and that He has always intervened when His children felt weak, fearful, or surrounded by trouble. In the same way it happens with us: we go through deep crises, we cry silently, we complain, we isolate ourselves from everyone, and sometimes we even question God. But later, when everything passes, we realize that God was working all along, shaping our character, increasing our faith, and drawing us closer to Him.

The Bible says:

5 Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.

6 Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.

Zachariah 4:5-6

These verses should make our soul rejoice and help us understand where our victory truly comes from. Our victories do not depend on our intelligence, our physical strength, our resources, or our strategies. Our triumph in the middle of crises comes from the sovereign power of God. When Zerubbabel faced an impossible mission, God reminded him that the solution would not come from human ability but from the Spirit of the Lord. That same truth applies to your life today. The breakthroughs you are waiting for will not come by your own force, but by God’s Spirit working in ways you cannot yet see.

The people of Israel experienced this truth again and again. They saw the mighty hand of God delivering them from their enemies, opening seas, bringing down walls, and protecting them in the wilderness. None of those victories were produced by human strength; all were acts of divine intervention. Do you think God would not do the same for you? Do you believe God has changed? No, beloved. God is still God, the same yesterday, today, and forever. The God who defended Israel is the same God who defends you today.

Therefore, whatever burden you are carrying, whatever fear is tormenting your heart, and whatever crisis is trying to suffocate your faith, place it in God’s hands. Hide under His wings, cry out to Him sincerely, and wait for Him with confidence. He will not fail you. He will not leave you ashamed. Your battle is not the end; it is simply the stage where God will demonstrate again that all power belongs to Him.

So, take courage. Lift up your eyes. Your victory is not a matter of human strength but of divine power. Trust in God, for He is fighting for you.

  1. Not by might, nor by power
    ======================
The power of God is manifested in his works we see especially in his creation. The heavens and earth declare the glory of God and his power; the firmament with its immensity shows he is mighty in a incomprehensible way. The Lord can overcome all the enemies of his people and can shake the heavens and the earth; not by might nor by power but by his Holy Spirit.

This is what God’s Word declares:

“Then the angel that talked with me answered and said unto me, Knowest thou not what these be? And I said, No, my lord.
Then he answered and spake unto me, saying, This is the word of the Lord unto Zerubbabel, saying, Not by might, nor by power, but by my spirit, saith the Lord of hosts.”
    Zachariah 4:5-6

If we believe in God and trust in Him, he can carry out anything he pleases. Nothing can resist Him; he is able to act in the soul of men and women, transform people and turn them into different beings, as he did with the apostles who followed Jesus: their lives were changed, and he could transform Saul of Tarsus from persecutor of his Church into his Saviour’s instrument, so that many people elsewhere became Christian.

The Bible records all the wonders the apostle Paul did by His power and the action of his Holy Spirit.

We can trust, then, that He can help us in all our adversities in this life: no matter how heavy or difficult the test is that we go through.

If we believe, we can. Yes, the children of God may be sure that he is ready for and wants to help us in all our troubles, by the power of his Holy Spirit.

Let’s not fear evil people or evil spirits that surround us in this World: because the Lord God is our defender, and he has ordained our lives to be happy people with him. Glory to God in any bad or good situation. Let us live by the grace of Jesus Christ. Amen.
