Let us meditate for a moment on the book of Proverbs written by King Solomon, specifically chapter 2, verses 5 and 6. These verses highlight one of the central themes of biblical wisdom: the fear of the Lord and the understanding that comes from Him alone.
5 Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
6 For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.
Proverbs 2:5–6 (KJV)
Here we see Solomon exalting the wisdom of the Lord and reminding us that true understanding begins with the fear of the Lord. When the Bible speaks of “fear” in this context, it refers to reverence, awe, and profound respect for God. This holy reverence leads us to deeper knowledge of His Word and greater discernment in our daily walk. Without fear of the Lord, human wisdom becomes shallow and limited, but with it, our understanding becomes anchored in divine truth.
Even today, we see how the people of God perish for lack of knowledge. Many fall into error, confusion, and spiritual weakness because they do not seek the wisdom that comes from God. This reminds us that all true wisdom flows from the Lord. Knowledge comes from Him, and understanding originates in His Word. Human intelligence, by itself, is not enough to navigate the spiritual realities of life. We depend on God for wisdom to discern what is right, what is holy, and what aligns with His will.
This passage teaches us a vital truth: without His wisdom, we cannot understand the Scriptures, nor can we live in obedience to God’s will. Therefore, we must continually cry out to God and ask Him to give us wisdom, understanding, and discernment so that His Word may be opened to us more clearly each day. The more we seek Him, the more He will grant insight into His truth.
We must also remember that without wisdom we cannot move forward spiritually. Wisdom protects, guides, strengthens, and corrects us. This is why God appeared to Solomon and gave him the opportunity to ask for anything he desired. Solomon’s response demonstrates a heart filled with humility and understanding:
7 In that night did God appear unto Solomon, and said unto him, Ask what I shall give thee.
8 And Solomon said unto God, Thou hast shewed great mercy unto David my father, and hast made me to reign in his stead.
9 Now, O Lord God, let thy promise unto David my father be established: for thou hast made me king over a people like the dust of the earth in multitude.
10 Give me now wisdom and knowledge, that I may go out and come in before this people: for who can judge this thy people, that is so great?
Solomon did not ask for wealth, long life, or victory over his enemies. Instead, he asked for only one thing: wisdom. He knew that ruling God’s people required divine understanding, not human strength. He recognized that without God-given wisdom, he would not be able to govern well, make righteous decisions, or lead with justice. Solomon’s request shows us the importance of valuing wisdom above all earthly treasures.
We must keep this truth in mind: we need God’s wisdom in order to live lives that are pleasing to Him. Without the wisdom that comes from above, we cannot understand His Word, nor can we teach it, speak it, or walk in it. Wisdom is essential for making decisions, resisting temptation, encouraging others, and fulfilling God’s purpose for our lives.
Therefore, ask the Lord for wisdom. Seek it earnestly, as Solomon did, because nothing is impossible with God. He delights in giving wisdom to those who humbly ask. And as we grow in wisdom, we will walk more faithfully, understand His Word more deeply, and live in a way that honors Him.

Excellencies of wisdom
==÷÷÷=÷===========
Among all the gifts the Lord can give to us, the first thing we need is wisdom to please Him and help others who are near us: the people of God, or those who let you help them.
Solomon tells us that the beginning of wisdom is the fear of God.
People need to believe that God exists
and that he rewards those who seek Him. To respect and to submit our lives to Him is characteristic
of wise people—just as it is to separate ourselves from evil, pleasing the Lord. In fact, He has given us his Law to lead our lives.
“Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord, and find the knowledge of God.
For the Lord giveth wisdom: out of his mouth cometh knowledge and understanding.”
(Proverbs 2:5,6)
It’s the Law of God which gives us a sense of love, justice and mercy. We need the Lord God to change our minds and our souls so that we may seek Him. And his work in us is also necessary so that we can adore Him in Spirit and truth, accepting His Will.
God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth. (John 4:24)
Let’s seek the Lord God asking Him wisdom to manage our lives. And may we live near Jesus Christ, our Good Pastor, who was sent to give us eternal Life
