When we have something we should value it and not provoke other people to get irritated or provoke them to feel envious of what we have, because these things are not pleasing to God. To talk about this, let’s look at Hannah’s story.
Hannah was praying in her heart, and her lips were moving but her voice was not heard. Eli thought she was drunk
1 Samuel 1:13
Hannah could not bear children because she was sterile, and as if this were not enough, at her very advanced age, and she suffered even more because her husband had children with another woman named Penina.
Penina always looked for a way to make Hannah feel bad, throwing her in the face that Hannah did not have children and she did. When Hannah heard these words she became very sad.
Hannah was so afflicted in spirit that she prayed for herself and only her lips moved, so when Eli saw her he thought she was drunk. However, what happened to her was that she was very afflicted in spirit.
and said to her, “How long are you going to stay drunk? Put away your wine.”
1 Samuel 1:14
But Hannah, with tears and anguish, told the Lord that she wanted to conceive a son to dedicate him completely to Him.
“Not so, my lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord.
1 Samuel 1:15
After Eli asked for this woman named Hannah, God fulfilled his request after a while. Every day we must be confident that God will not be late, but at the necessary time.
Hannah’s story is one of deep pain, perseverance, and unwavering faith. Even though she lived under constant mockery and emotional pressure, she chose not to respond with bitterness. Instead, she turned to God with sincerity, trusting that only He could change her situation. This teaches us an important lesson: when life becomes heavy and the words of others wound us, the best place to run is the presence of the Lord.
It is notable that Hannah did not allow envy, anger, or resentment to grow in her heart. Penina provoked her constantly, but Hannah never used her tongue to retaliate. Many times we are tempted to defend ourselves or to prove our worth to those who mistreat us. However, Hannah shows us a better path: to pour out our soul before God, because He sees what others cannot see and He rewards the humble in His perfect timing.
Her silent prayer was so intense that Eli misunderstood her, yet God understood her perfectly. This reminds us that even when others misinterpret our intentions, God knows the truth of the heart. No sincere prayer is wasted, and no tear that falls before God goes unnoticed.
In addition, Hannah made a vow to the Lord, not out of desperation but out of genuine devotion. She promised that if God granted her a son, she would dedicate him completely to His service. This reveals her gratitude and her understanding that every blessing comes from God and should be used for His glory. Many people ask God for blessings with the wrong motive, but Hannah asked with the desire to honor the Lord.
When the time came, God answered her prayer and gave her Samuel, a child who would become one of the greatest prophets of Israel. This shows us that God’s answers always surpass our expectations and His timing is always perfect. Although Hannah waited and suffered, God had a purpose for her pain, and that purpose brought forth a miracle that impacted the history of an entire nation.
Likewise, we must trust that God is working even when nothing seems to change. Sometimes the people around us might make us feel less, or life may seem unfair, but God is faithful. He lifts up the humble, strengthens the weak, and answers those who pray with sincerity.
Therefore, let us value what God gives us, avoid boasting, and never provoke envy in others. Instead, let us live with humility and gratitude, knowing that everything we have is a gift from God. And just like Hannah, let us learn to bring our deepest afflictions to the Lord, trusting that He hears us and that His plans are always better than ours.

I have poured my soul the Lord
==========================
Not so, my lord,” Hannah replied, “I am a woman who is deeply troubled. I have not been drinking wine or beer; I was pouring out my soul to the Lord. 1 Samuel 1:15
In our anguish the Lord is nearer of us, truly He is our refuge and a sure place where we can rest.
The Lord God wants to help us and put peace in us. He looks after his children for their souls’s welfare.
“You have given him his heart’s desire, and have not withheld the request of his lips. Selah.”
Psalm 21:2
Hannah was afflicted, she wished a son to please the Lord. Her soul was satisfied. She could praise God because He listened to her.
The Lord listens to us in our affliction. His name be blessed. Amen
