What is a fervent person? Is a person who is very enthusiastic in what he does, not only showing interest but perseverance in the work he has decided to undertake. And it is clear that the Lord wants us to have fervor or persistence in everything we do. Imagine, if we need perseverance in secular things, how much more in heavenly things?
The apostle Paul said to the Romans:
11 Never be lacking in zeal, but keep your spiritual fervor, serving the Lord.
12 Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
13 Share with the Lord’s people who are in need. Practice hospitality.
Romans 12:11-13
When we speak of the work of the Lord everything requires diligence and we must be fervent in it, since we often put diligence into insignificant things, and this is something we must understand, serving God is the greatest privilege that any human being can have and this must be great joy for us.
Do we have trials? These trials are not a big thing to stop the work of God in our lives. Is the burden too heavy? It does not matter, Faithful is the one who has called us and will keep us firm until the end. Am I too troubled? It is not enough to stop us, the people of God from ages ago have had tribulations, the early church was persecuted, the church has been persecuted for centuries, and none of this has been enough to stop the work of God, since the Bible says that hades will not be against the Church of our Lord Jesus Christ, and that church is you and me.
Friends, let us be joyful in hope, in the promise entrusted to us through the Scriptures, let us wait for faith, be constant in prayer, practice hospitality and, above all, be perseverant or fervent in the work of the Lord.
