Lord, You are my God

We have many things to thank God for. The simple fact of being able to wake up is a reason to say “My God, thank you”. The wonders of God have been notorious in our lives and the greatest wonder we can remember is that day that God brought us into His ways. And thank God for the death of His Son on the cross, because as a song says: “By His death I live today.”

There is a song by Marcos Vidal that says: “And pinch yourself when you feel the light of the sun.” Well, it’s true, we should thank God for everything, be grateful people no matter what our situation is. In the Bible we have read of many men of God who went through very difficult times.

The prophet Isaiah said:

1 Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you and praise your name, for in perfect faithfulness you have done wonderful things, things planned long ago.

2 You have made the city a heap of rubble,
the fortified town a ruin,
the foreigners’ stronghold a city no more;
it will never be rebuilt.

3 Therefore strong peoples will honor you;
cities of ruthless nations will revere you.

Isaiah 25:1-3

Our purpose on this earth is to give glory to God. There are people who when they see the calamity approaching begin to judge God, others to curse Him, but how good it is when as Christians we understand that regardless of the greatest storm, regardless of whether God gives us what we ask or not, regardless of the most severe situation in which we find ourselves, we must continue believing in God and glorifying Him.

Dear brother, let us praise God with all our hearts and give thanks for His advice (the Bible) which guides us in our day to day life. Let’s be grateful every morning, every awakening, because there are many people who no longer have this opportunity or who at some point wasted it. Life is one, for which we must glorify God every moment.

Being grateful transforms the way we see life. Gratitude lifts our eyes from what we lack and helps us focus on what God has already given us. It turns ordinary moments into miracles and simple blessings into testimonies of God’s love. Waking up, breathing, seeing the sunlight, having a place to rest, a meal to eat, a family to love—none of these things are guaranteed, and all of them are gifts from the hand of God. When we live with a grateful heart, we begin to see God’s fingerprints everywhere.

Throughout Scripture, we find men and women who praised God even in moments of deep pain. Job worshiped in the midst of his loss. Paul and Silas sang hymns in prison. David praised God while fleeing from his enemies. These examples remind us that gratitude is not based on circumstances but on who God is. He is faithful in suffering, present in loneliness, sovereign in chaos, and good in every season of life. Even when we cannot understand His plans, we can trust His heart.

Isaiah’s words in chapter 25 highlight something profound: God’s works are not improvisations; they are “things planned long ago.” Everything God does is intentional and perfect. Even the judgments He brings and the victories He grants are part of His eternal wisdom. When Isaiah praises God, he does so not only for blessings but also for God’s power in dealing with nations, cities, and rulers. This reminds us that God is Lord over history, and nothing that happens escapes His control. His perfect faithfulness is worthy of praise in every age.

However, many people respond to hardship by turning their backs on God. When difficulties arise, some question His goodness, and others curse His name. But the mature believer learns to praise God even in the darkest valley. True faith does not depend on seeing miracles but on trusting the One who never fails. Praising God in the storm is an act of spiritual strength. It says, “My God is greater than my circumstances.”

A grateful Christian is a powerful testimony in a world full of complaint and dissatisfaction. When we choose gratitude, we shine with a different light—one that points others to the hope we have in Christ. Every morning we wake up is a fresh reminder that God still has a purpose for us. Each new day is an opportunity to love, serve, grow, and glorify His name.

Life is fleeting, and time passes quickly. We do not know how many mornings remain, so we must use each one wisely. Let us honor God with thankful hearts, remembering His goodness, praising Him for His mercy, and following His Word. Gratitude keeps us humble, focused, and joyful. And above all, it reminds us that everything we have—life, salvation, purpose—is a gift from the God who loves us.

The end of all things is near
Whoever walks in integrity walks securely
