God loves a cheerful giver

The phrase of the title of this article has become one of the most famous in contemporary Christianity, though not always to express the truth about the verse from which it has been taken. It is true that God loves a cheerful giver, but this has a broad meaning and it is good that we know how to understand to be truly cheerful givers and not people who give for receiving something in return or for some need.

The apostle Paul said:

7 Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

8 And God is able to bless you abundantly, so that in all things at all times, having all that you need, you will abound in every good work.

9 As it is written:

“They have freely scattered their gifts to the poor;
their righteousness endures forever.”

2 Corinthians 9:7-9

The Bible teaches us a lot about generosity, and we should learn to be generous, but being a true cheerful giver implies some other things, the apostle Paul says that everyone should give as they proposed in their heart, and this, “not with sadness “” or by necessity “and at the end of the verse says:”Because God loves a cheerful giver “

We can not give with sadness because it is useless to give if it hurts to us, that would be a demonstration that our heart did not intend to do good and now we feel distressed. Neither should we give for necessity, we can not think that because we want to receive some blessing we will give an offering so that God will give us what our heart desires.

Let us understand something, a cheerful giver is that person who does good without expecting anything in return, and God loves the people who do it. Remember that our beloved and Lord Jesus Christ gave it all without expecting anything in return and this has to be our motivation and direction in the Christian life. Let’s be true joyful givers!
