Keep me safe, my God, for in you I take refuge

It is really good when we trust in God all the time. He is our helper, our hope, the One who strengthens us. That is why it is good that we have patience in Him and wait for the Almighty God. Trusting in Him is not simply an emotion—it is a decision to rest in His sovereignty and goodness even when we do not understand what is happening around us. When we place our confidence in God, we discover peace that the world cannot give, and strength that does not come from our own efforts.

The psalmist David was a humble person. When he faced a problem, he immediately went before the presence of God and asked Him to help and strengthen him. David never relied on his own strength, even though he was a mighty warrior and a king. He understood that every victory, every protection, and every blessing came from God alone. This heart of dependence is what made David a man after God’s own heart.

Keep me safe, my God,
for in you I take refuge.

Psalm 16:1

Let us not separate our trust from God, because if we turn away from Him, everything we have entrusted to Him will collapse. God is faithful and just. He is merciful, and His mercy is with those who show mercy to others. Trusting God does not mean we avoid difficulties—it means that in the midst of them, we remain firm because our refuge is the Lord. When we hide ourselves in Him, nothing can shake us.

I say to the Lord, “You are my Lord;
apart from you I have no good thing.”

Psalm 16:2

Remember that David was encouraging his soul to bless the name of God, because outside of God we can do nothing. God is our refuge, the One who sustains us in the midst of tribulations. A man outside the ways of God cannot accomplish anything of eternal value. The world offers empty promises and temporary comforts, but God offers strength, hope, and everlasting life. With Him we have everything; without Him we have nothing.

A man outside the ways of God cannot do anything, because God is our strength. The world offers us nothing that satisfies the soul, but in God we find help, guidance, and mercy. He is the solid rock on which we can stand when everything else around us trembles.

I say of the holy people who are in the land,
“They are the noble ones in whom is all my delight.”

Psalm 16:3

It is always good to remember that God cares for His children. He keeps His promises, and He fulfills them in His perfect time. He manifests His power in ways we often do not expect, and even in the moments when we feel weakest or most abandoned, He is there. God’s timing is never late, never early—always perfect. His faithfulness is unchanging, and His love is constant.

How can we not trust Him? If He is the only One worthy of our confidence and the only One capable of sustaining us, then our whole life should be entrusted to Him. That is why it is good that every day our lives grow in confidence in the Almighty God, who lives and reigns forever. May our hearts learn to rest daily in His promises, may our souls cling to His truth, and may our faith remain firm in the One who never fails.

My God shall supply all your need
My help comes from the Lord
