Who arms me with strength is God

When we open our Bible every day, we find a number of encouraging words in the book of psalms, and that is that the psalmist David had something in mind, when he was in difficult times, God helped him and strengthened him.

The psalmist was a man who did not care about the difficulty that arose and what came before him, but was always ready to ask God to help him in his bad time.

It is God who arms me with strength,
And makes my way perfect.

Psalm 18:32

It is of greater importance that when we are going through processes we ask God to help us as He did with David, we can not let difficulties overwhelm us.

God is the one who straightens our path, when we are crooked He comes and helps us to straighten our path, but the people who do not seek wisdom from above, their path is increasingly twisted by not looking to God.

He makes my feet like the feet of deer,
And sets me on my high places.

Psalm 18:33

No matter where we are or how high we are, and this is because God sustains us and takes care of us from all evil. God is in control of everything that comes or of everything that can happen to us.

He teaches my hands to make war,
So that my arms can bend a bow of bronze.

Psalm 18:34

He is the God that frees us even when our enemy wants to attack, He warns us so that we can overcome, He is the one who strengthens us at all times, prepares us and strengthens our armor and girds our lives.

It is important that we take this great example of David, that even when he felt in those bad times, he went to Almighty God to help him win.

When we examine the life of David in its entirety, we notice that his trust in God was not something superficial or momentary, but a deep conviction formed in the intimacy of prayer. David faced lions, bears, giants, betrayals, persecutions, and moments of profound loneliness; nevertheless, in every stage of his life he turned to God with a sincere heart. This teaches us that the spiritual strength we need does not come from ourselves, nor from our emotions or abilities, but from a relationship that is cultivated with the Lord day after day.

Many times we want to walk firmly, but our feet slip when fear comes, when problems increase, or when we simply feel that we have no strength left. However, the psalmist reminds us that it is God who places our feet in secure places, who gives us the ability to stand even when circumstances push us to fall. Just as a deer climbs heights that appear impossible to others, in the same way God gives His children the capacity to overcome situations that the natural mind cannot understand.

There are battles that are internal, invisible to the eyes of others, but God sees them. He trains our hands for the spiritual war we face daily: the war against discouragement, against fear, against temptation, and against thoughts that do not come from Him. Just as David learned to trust God in each conflict, we too must understand that God is forming us, strengthening us, and preparing us for victories that we cannot yet see. The bow of bronze represents a challenge greater than human ability, but God gives the strength to bend it.

In our present life, there are moments when we might feel overwhelmed, but this passage encourages us to lift our eyes and remember that the same God who was with David remains with us today. The God who gave him strength is the same who can give us strength when we think we have reached our limit. The God who perfected his path is the same who can redirect ours when we have lost direction. The God who raised him to high places can lift us up when life has brought us down.

Therefore, let us not be discouraged. Let us come before God with sincerity, just as David did, acknowledging our need and trusting that He will act. If we learn to run to Him in times of anguish, we will discover that He is truly our refuge, our fortress, and our strength. And as we grow in faith, we too will be able to declare with confidence: “It is God who arms me with strength.”
