Today we are standing, and it is all thanks to our Lord Jesus Christ. For Him we live, and because of Him we have hope and purpose. Every breath we take and every day we wake up is a gift that comes from His grace. The apostle Paul understood this truth deeply when he wrote that for the believer, living means living for Christ. Our lives are no longer centered on ourselves, but on the One who saved us. We also remember that even death, for those who belong to Him, is not a loss but a gain, because it means being with the Lord forever.
Our entire lives must be given only to Him. If we breathe, it is for Him; if we walk it is for Him; if we speak, it should be to glorify His name. Christ is not meant to occupy only a small part of our lives, but to be the center of everything we do. Our decisions, our attitudes, and our actions should reflect that we belong to Him. That is why we must not be far from Him. We must remain close to the Lord through prayer, through the study of His Word, and through a life that seeks to honor Him. One day we will leave this earth, and when that moment arrives, it will be a blessing if we depart from this world firmly attached to Christ, knowing that our life was lived for His glory.
The Christian life, however, is not simply about words or good intentions. The Bible teaches us that there is a constant struggle between the desires of the flesh and the life that comes from the Spirit. Paul speaks clearly about the works of the flesh and about the fruit of the Spirit. This distinction helps us understand what it truly means to live for Christ. Those who walk according to the flesh pursue selfish desires, pride, and temporary pleasures. But those who walk according to the Spirit seek holiness, humility, and obedience to God. Only those who choose to live according to the Spirit will experience the victory that God promises to His people.
For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
Philippians 1:21
These words of the apostle Paul are powerful and clear. When he spoke to the believers, he reminded them that the true purpose of life is found in Christ alone. Living for Christ means placing Him above our own ambitions, comforts, and personal desires. It means trusting Him in every circumstance and allowing His Spirit to guide our steps. Paul understood that even suffering or difficulties could not separate him from the joy of belonging to Christ. For him, every moment of life was an opportunity to serve the Lord and to proclaim the message of salvation.
Brothers and sisters in Christ Jesus, it is good and necessary that we live in the Spirit. We are called to walk in obedience to the commandments of the Lord and to allow the Holy Spirit to transform our hearts day by day. When we surrender our lives to God, He produces in us His fruit—love, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness, and self-control. These qualities are evidence that Christ truly lives within us.
Let us remember that our time on earth is temporary, but the reward of those who belong to Christ is eternal. All those who live for Christ have the promise of everlasting life with Him. Therefore, let us remain faithful, walking in the Spirit and seeking the presence of the Lord every day. When Christ is the center of our lives, we can face any circumstance with confidence, knowing that our greatest gain is not found in this world, but in the eternal life that God has prepared for us.
