The consolation of God is what a person who believes and trusts in Him receives when difficult situations arise. It is wonderful to be able to feel that our God gives us support when we least expect it.
A clear example is that when we get sick, our mother comes, takes care of us and helps us get up, gives us comfort in those moments of weakness.
In Isaiah 66:13 we can see the words of the Lord for that people who trusted in the Lord, despite the fact that they were a people who were sometimes stubborn before the words of the Lord, God continued to be their comfort:
As one whom his mother comforts,
So I will comfort you;
And you shall be comforted in Jerusalem.”Isaiah 66:13
These were words of God through the prophet Isaiah, words of peace and pure support, he spoke to them in a very merciful and compassionate way, this is our great and powerful God, who brings comfort to His people.
God’s promises came to them, although he took his time, but it came at a time they least expected. God arrives on time and this is something that we must take into account.
Let us not forget that our consolation comes from God, He is our help, let us not lose heart because God is close to us to help us.
When we carefully meditate on this passage, we realize that God uses a very intimate and human image to describe His care: the comfort of a mother. This comparison is not accidental. A mother’s comfort is gentle, patient, and filled with tenderness. In the same way, God does not comfort His people with harshness or reproach, but with compassion and understanding, knowing our weaknesses and our need for reassurance.
Throughout Scripture, we see that God is always attentive to the cries of those who trust in Him. Even when His people went astray or hardened their hearts, the Lord never completely abandoned them. His discipline was always accompanied by mercy, and His correction was never separated from love. This teaches us that God’s consolation is not earned by perfection, but received through faith and humility.
Many times, human beings seek comfort in temporary things: possessions, relationships, or personal achievements. However, these sources of comfort are fragile and often fail when adversity strikes. The consolation that comes from God, on the other hand, is firm and lasting. It does not depend on circumstances, but on His unchanging character and faithfulness.
The people to whom Isaiah spoke were facing uncertainty and fear. They needed to be reminded that God had not forgotten them. In the same way, we too face moments of discouragement, sickness, loss, or emotional pain. In those moments, God draws near to us, not to condemn us, but to strengthen us and renew our hope.
God’s comfort also brings restoration. When He consoles us, He does not merely ease our pain for a moment; He restores our hearts and gives us renewed strength to continue walking. His comfort lifts us up when we feel weak and gives us peace when our hearts are troubled. This is why trusting in God is essential, especially in difficult seasons.
It is important to remember that God’s timing is perfect. Sometimes we feel that His help is delayed, but He always arrives at the exact moment we need Him. His comfort may come through His Word, through prayer, or even through the encouragement of others. Regardless of the means, we can be sure that God never arrives late.
Therefore, let us place our trust fully in the Lord. Let us seek His presence in prayer and meditate on His promises. When we do so, we will experience the true consolation that only God can give. This divine comfort sustains us, strengthens our faith, and reminds us that we are never alone, no matter how difficult our circumstances may be.
