In this chapter of the book of Isaiah, we can see the Lord’s promises for His people, Israel. God reminds them that He is the one they should trust, no matter the difficulties they may face. He will be their helper and their ever-present aid.
The words of this chapter 43 reveal God’s complete compassion toward His people. Even if they felt fear, the Lord always placed His shield before them so they could feel safe and overcome any hardship.
In verse 2 of this chapter, God, through the prophet, gives them a powerful affirmation, reminding them that they must always fully trust in Him:
When thou passest through the waters, I will be with thee; and through the rivers, they shall not overflow thee: when thou walkest through the fire, thou shalt not be burned; neither shall the flame kindle upon thee.
