Any decision in our lives must be based on the wisdom of our God, because when we trust in our own hearts, we may make many mistakes before Him.
The prophet Jeremiah gives us reasons to be careful about the inclinations and direction of the heart. The people of Judah had gone astray and had turned their hearts astray.
They followed their hearts without thinking that they were straying from the ways of the Lord. Their hearts were wicked and turned according to their own will. But these are the words the prophet speaks to them in Jeremiah 17:9:
The heart is deceitful above all things, and desperately wicked: who can know it?
Jeremiah 17:9
Why was their heart deceitful? Because they had turned away from the Lord to follow their own way. Only God knows the heart and its ways.
Let us not forget that only God knows us and examines our minds; He tests our hearts to give to each one according to His way.
Beloved brother in Christ, it is important that we keep in mind the need to take care of every step we take. Let us ask God to give us wisdom and guard our heart and mind. We must be aware that only our God knows our heart, and that is why we must ask Him that our heart not be corrupted or become deceitful.
