Man’s pride reaches such a high level that God, in His justice, allows brokenness in his life. The proud heart rejects the wisdom of the Lord, and because of this, man suffers brokenness.
Pride sets man against God, leading him to act according to his own thoughts and to walk in paths of evil, thus rejecting the statutes and divine will of the Lord.
In chapter 16 of the book of Proverbs, we see that the pride of man or woman is an abomination before the Lord:
Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall.
Proverbs 16:18
If pride is an abomination before God, then that is why He allows the breaking of the man of evil conduct, rejecting from him every evil way. We must remember that pride opposes wisdom, and in doing so, it rejects the will of God, setting the heart against the Lord of hosts.
The proud man ignores the wisdom and work of God, acting according to his own understanding. However, he forgets that the pride in his heart will soon bring judgment and breaking upon his life.
Wise man or woman, do not set your heart on pride. And if you have fallen into it, humble yourself before God and pray that He will help you and that you may be delivered from the breaking that comes upon the proud.
