When we find ourselves in situations where we are physically weak, our strength is wearing thin and, even more so, when we see our enemy advancing, we feel how difficult our path is becoming. However, there is something very good and important that we must keep in mind in the midst of all this: God is on our side.
In this case, we will talk about the psalmist David. He felt dejected and needed God to free him and help him to continue on his path. Therefore, we see the plea that this man addresses to God in Psalm 109, verse 21:
But do thou for me, O God the Lord, for thy name’s sake: because thy mercy is good, deliver thou me.
Psalm 109:21
The psalmist understood that his help could only come from one place: the Lord of hosts. In his cry, he asked God to favor him, to help him, because he knew that the judgment of men was not enough; David wanted God to be his judge.
We must reflect on something: when these types of situations come into our lives, we must remember that being a king, as David was, implied a great responsibility and a very heavy weight. However, one thing is certain: God always helps those whom He has called and who obey Him, allowing them to win. Even though we see the psalmist’s pleas, we know that God was with him at all times.
Dear friends, it is always good to go to the Lord for help. Just as the psalmist went before Him with a cry, we can do so too. God hears our prayers, sends His help and judges our oppressors. Let us trust in Him, because His mercy will always be good.
