He who gives to the poor will not lack

The Lord promises to bless the generous heart, since the man who acts with mercy towards the poor reflects the character of God. However, we must understand that this is not about giving in the expectation of a benefit in return, but rather about helping without any conditions.

Solomon tells us how good God is when our hearts feel mercy for our neighbors, especially when we act upon seeing the afflictions or needs of a brother. With a heart that pleases God, we rise up and give to those in need, knowing that we will receive a reward from the Lord.

In the following passage we clearly observe the promise that the proverbist highlights about the generous heart. He who gives to the poor will not experience poverty. Therefore, this biblical passage reminds us of the great blessing of helping others:

He that giveth unto the poor shall not lack: but he that hideth his eyes shall have many a curse.

Proverbs 28:27

There are many people today who turn their eyes away from those who have not eaten, who are without shelter, or who have no place to sleep. According to this verse, those who act in this way will have many curses and will be rejected by the Lord on that day.

Therefore, brothers, it is important that we bless the poor. If we have bread, let us share it with those who need it and let us not take our eyes off them. Let us be wise and give to the needy in the name of our beloved Jesus.

They fell down, and there was none to help
Sinners will suffer the penalty of eternal damnation
