In your goodness, O God, you have provided for the poor

God sent punishments to the people of Israel when they sinned against Him. They suffered harsh consequences from God for provoking Him. But even so, we can say that the Lord’s mercy reached them.

The people, on this occasion, needed God’s help to win the battle, and so it was: God won the battle and did not abandon them, but provided for His people. On their journey towards Canaan, God never left them. His presence accompanied them on all their paths.

Chapter 68, verse 10 of the book of Psalms, shows us the great mercy that God has with His children and how He saves those who walk uprightly before Him:

Thy congregation hath dwelt therein: thou, O God, hast prepared of thy goodness for the poor.

This chapter gives us clear evidence that God helped His people in any situation they found themselves in. That is why we see the psalmist’s expression about the people of Israel, whom God cared for and kept in all their ways.

Those who follow the path of the Lord, God, in His mercy, provides for and cares for them. He does not abandon the poor, because our dwellings belong to God. So, brothers, let us trust every day that God will be with us, but we must also walk firmly before Him.
