The book of Genesis shows us a story that has greatly impacted humanity, due to the sin of the man who rose before God. These people committed all kinds of evils before the eyes of God, no matter what God thought of them. But one day everything changed.

1- God regrets His creation
And it repented the Lord that he had made man on the earth, and it grieved him at his heart.
Genesis 6:6
Because the man grew in great quantity, they were also exalted and killed, and there was prostitution and abundance of all kinds of atrocities. He says their wickedness was much before God.
This verse expresses the deep sorrow of God when He saw how far humanity had fallen. It does not mean that God made a mistake, but rather that human behavior had caused great pain. 2- God chose a man named Noah
But Noah found grace in the eyes of the Lord.
Genesis 6:8
This man named Noah found grace in the eyes of God, then to God see how faithful this man was, he placed in him the responsibility of building an ark so that all animals, he and their families survived the flood that the Lord would send in those days.
Noah stood out in a generation characterized by disobedience. He was not chosen because he was perfect, but because he walked with God and trusted Him. Grace was the key element in Noah’s life, reminding us that God always preserves a remnant of faithfulness even in the darkest times. Through Noah, God showed that obedience still matters and that righteousness is never overlooked.
3- Ark Construction
Make thee an ark of gopher wood; rooms shalt thou make in the ark, and shalt pitch it within and without with pitch.
Genesis 6:14
In chapter 6 of verse 14 of Genesis we find detailed instructions for building the ark. God gave him all the measures and materials to build the ark, there was no doubt that God was with this man.
The ark was not Noah’s idea; it was a divine plan. Every measurement and instruction came directly from God. This teaches us that obedience requires trust, even when the task seems impossible or illogical. Noah worked for many years without seeing rain, yet he remained faithful to God’s word.
4- Animal specifications
Of fowls after their kind, and of cattle after their kind, of every creeping thing of the earth after his kind, two of every sort shall come unto thee, to keep them alive.
Genesis 6:20
This man did each of the things that the Lord told him to do, Noah did not make an excuse to build the ark, rather this man believed in what God had told him. Animals of each species were able to enter the ark to conserve wildlife after the destruction of the earth with water.
God’s care extended beyond humanity to all creation. The preservation of animal life reveals God’s sovereignty and His plan for restoration after judgment. Noah’s obedience ensured the continuity of life on earth, showing that faithfulness has lasting impact.
5- Number of animals according to their purity
Of every clean beast thou shalt take to thee by sevens, the male and his female: and of beasts that are not clean by two, the male and his female.
Genesis 7:2
God saw that this man was the only one who was well and that he was doing well before Him, so he took it and said: enter you and your whole house into the ark; because I’ve seen you right in front of me in this generation. God speaks to him in verse 2 and tells him: Of the animals that are clean, take 7 pairs and those that are not clean only take one couple.
This distinction shows that God’s instructions were purposeful and precise. Clean animals would later be used for sacrifice, indicating that worship would continue even after the flood. God was already preparing the way for renewal.
6- Noah’s age when God spoke to him about the flood
And Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.
Génesis 7:6
God strengthened Noah so that he could build the ark and move forward with all that God had commanded him. After the ark was over, he, his wife, his children and the women of his children entered. This was because of the rain.
Noah’s age reminds us that God can call and use anyone, regardless of stage in life. Strength does not come from youth but from obedience and reliance on God. Noah trusted God until the very end.
7- On what day did the flood waters arrive
And it came to pass after seven days, that the waters of the flood were upon the earth.
Genesis 7:10
The Bible records that the waters of the day of the flood arrived on the seventh day, because the time was fulfilled. Noah did all that God had commanded him, all the animals according to their race and their species. Also his children and his wife’s children. Remember that God never does messy things, because God knows everything.
God’s timing is always perfect. The flood did not come early or late; it came exactly when God said it would. This teaches us that God fulfills His word precisely and that obedience brings protection even in times of judgment.
