In this article we will see a psalm of Asaph and a song for the wonderful mercy and kindness of the Lord towards His children, also remembering that God puts down the evil and blesses the righteous.
All the righteous give thanks to the Lord because day by day they are delivered by God, the shield and love of God keep them safe, but the evil man will receive his punishment because he does not fulfill or love the will of the Lord.
In the following verse we can notice the gratitude that Asaph gave through this song directed towards God.
Unto thee, O God, do we give thanks, unto thee do we give thanks: for that thy name is near thy wondrous works declare.
Psalm 75:1
It is important that we give thanks to God every day, even if we see the evil of the wicked, even if we are despised, they will laugh, but their days are very short and they will be humbled by the Lord.
Sing a new song to the Lord, every morning direct your praise to your God, follow His justice and do not be afraid because God is and will continue to be your shield.
Thank the Lord as we see in this chapter 75 where Asaph directs his praise to the Lord, and say “Thanks we give you Lord, oh thanks we give you that You deliver us and Your mercy is with us every morning.”
Psalm 75 is attributed to Asaph, a servant of God who understood deeply the justice and sovereignty of the Lord. Through this psalm, Asaph reminds us that God is not indifferent to what happens on earth. Although the wicked may prosper for a time and appear strong in their actions, their exaltation is temporary, while the righteousness that comes from God is eternal and firm.
One of the central teachings of this psalm is that the name of the Lord is near. This expression shows us that God is not distant from His people. On the contrary, His presence is manifested through His mighty works, through His protection, and through His constant intervention in favor of those who fear Him. Every deliverance, every answered prayer, and every act of mercy is a testimony that the Lord is close to His children.
As believers, we are called to live with a heart of thanksgiving. Gratitude is not only expressed when things go well, but also when we face trials, injustice, or opposition. Asaph teaches us that even in the midst of adversity, praise must not cease. Giving thanks to God strengthens our faith and reminds us that He is the righteous judge who will act in due time.
The psalm also shows us that God is the one who exalts and humbles. Human strength, power, or pride cannot stand against the judgment of the Lord. Those who exalt themselves in arrogance and wickedness will eventually be brought low, while those who trust in God and walk in obedience will be lifted up by His hand. This truth should encourage us to remain humble and faithful, knowing that our reward comes from God alone.
Furthermore, Asaph invites us to sing a new song to the Lord. This represents a renewed attitude of worship, a daily decision to honor God with our words, actions, and thoughts. Each morning is an opportunity to recognize His mercy, which is renewed every day, and to acknowledge His faithfulness that never fails.
In a world where injustice often seems to prevail, Psalm 75 reminds us that God reigns with righteousness. He sees everything, and nothing escapes His sight. This assurance gives peace to the righteous, who can rest knowing that God is their shield, their defender, and their hope.
Therefore, let us follow the example of Asaph and lift our voices in gratitude. Let us give thanks to the Lord continually, proclaiming His wondrous works and trusting in His perfect justice. For the Lord delivers His people, sustains them with His mercy, and establishes them in His truth forever.
