In the first lines of this writing, we can see a man faithful to God giving orders to his soul to remain in the place of complete trust. He is the Lord, our salvation.
The psalmist David speaks to himself with conviction, reminding his own heart where his confidence must be anchored. This is not a superficial or emotional confidence, but a deep and deliberate decision to trust in God above all circumstances. David understood that his strength did not come from armies, strategies, or human wisdom, but from the living God who had sustained him from his youth.
Can we have that same confidence that David had? The psalmist placed all of his trust in the God of his salvation because he knew that if he did not trust in God, his kingdom would fall apart. That is why he speaks of the great glory in the Lord.
David had experienced many moments of danger, persecution, and uncertainty. He had faced enemies who sought his life, betrayal from those close to him, and seasons of deep anguish. Yet through all of these trials, his faith remained anchored in the Lord. He learned that human power is fragile, but the power of God is eternal. This understanding shaped his confidence and allowed him to rest in God even when everything around him seemed unstable.
Verse 62:7 shows us the psalmist’s devotion to the Lord, recognizing that if his feet were in sand, he would sink, but when he placed his feet on the firm and strong rock, he would not sink.
In God is my salvation and my glory: the rock of my strength, and my refuge, is in God.
Psalm 62:7
This declaration reveals a profound truth: true stability comes only from God. Sand represents everything that is temporary and unreliable—human strength, wealth, recognition, or worldly security. When we rely on these things, our lives become unstable. But when our trust is placed in God, who is the eternal rock, our foundation becomes unshakable.
Can we say the same thing that the psalmist said about the Lord? Placing all our trust in the Lord guarantees us security, well-being and blessing.
To trust in the Lord is not merely to believe in His existence, but to depend on Him in every area of life. It means trusting Him in moments of abundance as well as in times of lack. It means surrendering our fears, plans, and uncertainties to Him, knowing that His will is perfect and His timing is always right.
The Lord is our firm rock, we can go to Him and we will be helped; His hands will support us. We will be reached by his salvation.
God does not abandon those who place their trust in Him. His support is constant, even when we do not immediately see the outcome we desire. Many times, the Lord strengthens us inwardly before changing our circumstances. His salvation reaches not only our external situations but also our hearts, restoring our hope and renewing our faith.
Brothers, we can say: “O Lord, You are our refuge, You are the God who sustains us.” Let us put all our trust in the Lord. Let us command ourselves to stand firm in the salvation of the Lord and that our feet are on the solid rock.
Just as David spoke to his own soul, we too must remind ourselves daily where our confidence belongs. The world constantly invites us to trust in what is visible and temporary, but the Word of God calls us to trust in what is eternal. When our hearts grow weary or uncertain, we must return to this truth: God alone is our salvation, our glory, and our refuge.
May our lives reflect this unwavering confidence, so that others may see in us the peace and assurance that come from standing firmly on the rock who is the Lord. Let us remain steadfast, trusting Him completely, knowing that those who build their lives upon Him will never be put to shame.
